Our newly renovated event barn, lit by wrought iron chandeliers and candle sconces, surrounded by horses in green pastures, creates a rustic-elegant oasis for a truly memorable occasion. Three large carriage doors allow for a covered yet sunlit space, where guests may mingle for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, or accommodate a formal sit down meal for up to 60. The polished floors double as a dance floor inviting guests to dance the night away beneath the warm glow of the chandeliers! Just beyond the carriage doors, our flat grass arena provides unlimited space for a large sail-cloth tent, with ample room for a caterer’s tent along side. Electrical hookups are provided for food service, sound, and additional lighting as needed. Stissing House is one of the oldest taverns in America, located at the crossroads of the village of Pine Plains in the heart of Dutchess County. Upstairs, the oldest Dutch Colonial ballroom in America is designed for long-table dinners and weddings of 25-150 people. Gather your friends and family for pitchers of shandy and wood fired eggs the day before or morning after your party. Chef/Proprietor Clare de Boer cooks food that is generous and has a sense of place. Ingredients come from surrounding farms and are prepared simply on the tavern’s mammoth hearth. The upper lofted barn will see further modernization in Spring 2024 and is the perfect reception and indoor ceremony space. A Friday check in enables you to prepare yourself for the big day and set up the space in the barn with any decor. The house is yours for the entire weekend for up to 8 guests.
