It is such a unique, industrial but romantic space. It has flexibility for style and layout, it was a no brainer for us. \nThe management that existed when we first booked with them was pretty horrible to be honest, but I only mention that fact at all because the crew that took over a few months ago has been so incredible they turned that experience around drastically. \nAdrianna was a God send, an absolute angel and made our wedding a million times better than it would have been if it weren't for her. She supported me through our rehearsal and decoration setup, she was always very responsive to emails and calls, and then on wedding day she helped make everything seamless!\nOn our wedding night my husband and I looked around and just felt so grateful at how beautiful everything came out, it was all better than we imagined.\nI can't forget to mention the bar staff! I could write pages about all the amazing things that this venue boasts, but I will highlight the points that future brides should understand when they go to book The Ruins. \n\nBeing a DIY bride, the Ruins at Sassafrass provided the enchanting backdrop to bring my Pinterest board dreams to life. The rustic charm and natural beauty of the venue complemented my vision perfectly, creating a magical setting for our special day. The flexibility of the space allowed me to add personal touches, turning it into a unique and unforgettable experience. Even in late October the landscape of the mountains in the distance were breathtaking; our guests are still talking about how mesmerizing the views were. \n\nWhat makes our wedding story even more special is that we chose The Ruins before it was even finished. It was a leap of faith based on the vision and promises from Carol, the owner. When we did our initial tour, the venue was still in its beginning stages of completion; even then we were captivated by the potential and the unique charm it promised. What sealed the deal for us, however, was Carol's infectious enthusiasm, passion, and stylistic eye. Her vision and commitment assured us that the venue would be the perfect location for our special day, and it absolutely was! Despite some last minute hiccups, what truly stood out was Carol, Jerome, and Lara’s commitment to addressing these challenges in real-time. We first visited about a year before our wedding and immediately felt like it would be the perfect place for our special day. We were greeted by the resident golden retrievers, who followed us on our tour. If you’re a dog lover, you’ll be very happy with this venue! But really, it was Amie, Mary Beth and the rest of the staff who sold us. We immediately felt like they cared about making your day as perfect as possible for us, which was very welcome after touring other venues which felt like they wanted to squeeze every penny from us. After we decided on the venue, Amie was so willing to work with people like us who wanted to plan every detail possible. Amie answered all of my questions and sent additional information like floor plans so I could plan who was assigned to each room as soon as possible. Her communication over email was so incredible helpful! We absolutely loved that we could have so many guests staying at the inn and knew that would be perfect for our winter wedding. Next came our tasting, which was such a fun event. There are two tastings a year, both in March (though I think you could have a private tasting if you need). We loved being able to stay at the inn for a night and meet all of the other couples getting married here within the year. As our wedding was in February, we had to wait a long time between the tasting and trying the food again, and it absolutely didn’t disappoint! Chef Jeff did an amazing job with our welcome party, breakfast and lunch the day of the wedding, the absolutely amazing wedding dinner (and late night snacks), and brunch the next morning! We heard that most couples have a hard time eating during their weddings, but we cleaned our plates! Definitely try the butternut squash ravioli, it is incredible! We had our ceremony in the barn, then moved to the bar in the inn for cocktail hour, then dinner in the dining room, and dancing in the living room. They take out the big pieces of living room furniture and move some chairs to the side for dancing. A lot of my family was skeptical about that, but the inn knows what they’re doing!! The dance floor was plenty big for our party of 60 (and I’m sure it could have accommodate larger groups), and the chairs on the sides were a huge hit! It was incredible to be able to sit down for a minute and still feel like you’re a part of the party. I know a lot of our guests enjoyed that as well. We got ready in the Norman Rockwell suite, which worked out well since we had a small bridal party. We also loved getting to see all the rooms in the inn - every room is thought out so well and has little details that are so fun to find! We thought the inn was what made our wedding weekend so magical and cannot wait to visit again on anniversaries or other special occasions. We just returned from our honeymoon and are still reveling in the most magical wedding weekend we could have ever had. It’s all thanks to Meesha at The Wilburton Inn. From the moment we came for our initial tour, Meesha was all you could want out of a wedding planner, as well as a friend who is thoughtful, kind, smart, and more than a joy to be around. She helped with every single aspect of our planning, and we trusted here word entirely — we couldn’t have been more happy with working with her! \n\nAs to the venue, there is simply no better place to have a wedding. For context, my husband and I have big families. A lot of our family members were coming in from out of town and out of the country, so our priority was to have a wedding weekend where people could be together for more than one night. This is exactly what we got with the Wilburton. Our guests were able to play tennis, go hiking, go swimming, explore Manchester and, most of all, be together in the days leading up to the actual wedding. We reserved almost all of the houses on the property for guests to stay in, which created a laidback atmosphere as most people didn’t have to worry about driving back and forth or leaving at any point. \n\nAs for the wedding night, it was pure magic. The food was perfect, the service was perfect, the weather (luckily) was also perfect, which was just the cherry on top. We live in NYC and planning a wedding while out of state seemed a little daunting, but the whole team here is so professional, responsive, friendly and welcoming that we felt comfortable we'd be able to plan from afar. We really wanted an outdoor element to our wedding while still having modern amenities and South Farms was the only place that checked all of our boxes with its beautiful fields, mix of indoor/outdoor spaces, interesting history and features, exposed beams, modern bathrooms, temperature control, and a charming indoor/rain option. The spaces all have great bones with a lot of room to make things personal and unique, and we felt the staff was really open to working with us to achieve our particular aesthetic. Jennifer was very accommodating in the beginning with scheduling our tour and answering our initial questions, and as we got closer to the wedding we met our venue coordinator Sam, who is amazing. She kept us on track, was super friendly (and patient with our thousand questions, details and project ideas) and we always felt confident that things were going to go smoothly on our day no matter the situation. We felt pretty organized and on top of everything as the day was getting closer, but so many small things come up that you can't predict and Sam was calm and on top of everything - we are so grateful to her and the rest of the team that worked on our wedding day. No matter how well you prepare, the day moves fast, and you need a vendor team you trust. Not only was all of South Farms dependable, but most of our vendors were from their preferred list, and everything was executed exactly how we imagined. Even working within their preferred list, we still had lots of choices to personalize everything from the caterer, to the lighting, to the decor. All of our guests complimented how beautiful and unique the space was, and how well executed all of our details were (which is thanks to the SF team). We were devastated. It was quickly made clear that an international wedding was out of the question for the foreseeable future, so we redirected our search closer to home. After a few months of truly disheartening searching, we were directed towards Scott Farm. Really as soon as we pulled into the parking lot we were in love. It is nestled inside of rolling hills and the land is covered in beautiful orchards and picturesque white buildings. It was like a scene out of a movie--and it really was, as Good Will Hunting was filmed there! The process of planning the wedding with the staff at Scott Farm was truly seamless. Simon was kind, patient, and helpful, leading us through all the specifications and details of the site, and making himself available if we ever had any questions or concerns. And Jaja was a rock star--she went above and beyond in every aspect of her duties, especially on the wedding day. Without her calm and confident presence, trouble shooting problems and reassuring an anxious bride and groom, the day would not have gone so perfectly. I can't say enough about how supportive, pleasant, and wonderful everyone is at Scott Farm. The venue itself was gorgeous and the scenery was absolutely perfect for our fall wedding. The new barn was beautifully done and spacious enough for all of our guests. Sam and Jen were the dream team when it came to preparing for the day in advance and for taking the stress off my shoulders the day of. I went into my day prepared to be bombarded with questions and stressed with scheduling but Sam and Jen handled everything for us. I cannot express for grateful I am to have found this wonderful venue and for the support and positivity that came from the staff. Also huge shoutout to Pete the bartender everyone loved you!!
