Words truly can not describe what they have created, from the boulders along the moss path to the hand-built mortise and tenon pavilion to the waterfall that seems to be the heartbeat of the living stone, you simply have to experience it to understand what it is. Beyond the natural beauty, Heather and Django shared with us and our families the warmest hospitality and most delicious food. We met and discussed some of our ideas, and quickly Heather had curated a menu that not only reflected who we are but would still be approachable to all of our guests. The food was locally sourced, fresh, and absolutely incredible. It is clear that Heather, Django, and their staff are passionate about what they create and serve to the people who have the privilege of experiencing everything Living Stone has to offer.\n\nThe day of our wedding it rained for the entirety of the day, while we had to pivot our plans a little bit, Heather had a rain contingency plan that was executed flawlessly by her and their staff, and our day was ultimately perfect. The rain charged the creek, and the waterfall roared, and we danced the night away. We simply could not have found a place more beautiful or run by people more talented and incredible. We have and will continue to recommend Living Stone for anything one could need an event space for. The grounds are expansive and beautiful and would be well suited for any gathering of people who want to celebrate love in a truly spectacular place. We first visited about a year before our wedding and immediately felt like it would be the perfect place for our special day. We were greeted by the resident golden retrievers, who followed us on our tour. If you’re a dog lover, you’ll be very happy with this venue! But really, it was Amie, Mary Beth and the rest of the staff who sold us. We immediately felt like they cared about making your day as perfect as possible for us, which was very welcome after touring other venues which felt like they wanted to squeeze every penny from us. After we decided on the venue, Amie was so willing to work with people like us who wanted to plan every detail possible. Amie answered all of my questions and sent additional information like floor plans so I could plan who was assigned to each room as soon as possible. Her communication over email was so incredible helpful! We absolutely loved that we could have so many guests staying at the inn and knew that would be perfect for our winter wedding. Next came our tasting, which was such a fun event. There are two tastings a year, both in March (though I think you could have a private tasting if you need). We loved being able to stay at the inn for a night and meet all of the other couples getting married here within the year. As our wedding was in February, we had to wait a long time between the tasting and trying the food again, and it absolutely didn’t disappoint! Chef Jeff did an amazing job with our welcome party, breakfast and lunch the day of the wedding, the absolutely amazing wedding dinner (and late night snacks), and brunch the next morning! We heard that most couples have a hard time eating during their weddings, but we cleaned our plates! Definitely try the butternut squash ravioli, it is incredible! We had our ceremony in the barn, then moved to the bar in the inn for cocktail hour, then dinner in the dining room, and dancing in the living room. They take out the big pieces of living room furniture and move some chairs to the side for dancing. A lot of my family was skeptical about that, but the inn knows what they’re doing!! The dance floor was plenty big for our party of 60 (and I’m sure it could have accommodate larger groups), and the chairs on the sides were a huge hit! It was incredible to be able to sit down for a minute and still feel like you’re a part of the party. I know a lot of our guests enjoyed that as well. From the bridal suite, I watched the ceremony setup unfold and saw guests trickling in. Everything is steps away—the farthest guest room is under a two-minute walk to the ceremony. From there, it's a short, scenic stroll to the terrace and tent for the reception, all set against gorgeous marble architecture.\n\nOne overlooked wedding detail? Bathrooms. The mansion has elegant restrooms nearby, and with guests staying on-site, they could use their rooms—so no bathroom lines! Need to grab a jacket, touch up makeup, or charge your phone? You can do so without missing a thing. The team at The Hermitage made the entire process easy, calming and fun and made the weekend lovely, memorable and perfect. Gina was with us from moment one and was a constant professional who was warm, non-judgemental and available whenever needed. She made sure the day of went on without a hitch and took care of all the big and small details, making sure we didn’t need to worry about anything. I was very specific about wanting to start hair and make up later in the day and Gina adjusted the schedule and made sure I had my morning to myself. During the weekend Mercer, Jan, Sarah, Katia and so many others, along with Gina, made it the best weekend with all of our guests saying the same thing. From the rehearsal dinner, breakfasts in the morning, bar service and, of course, the big event, it was all excellent, personal and thoughtful. \nLocation and venue wise The Hermitage was again, perfect. The property and inn are beautiful, luxurious and luscious. It was incredible to have the entire inn to ourselves with our closest family and friends. The carriage house was a perfect home base to not only get ready in but to have drinks at and to have a little welcome event for just those staying at the inn on Thursday night. I have pictures of my parents and aunts and uncles sitting on the porch telling stories which I will cherish forever. The grounds were beautiful for the wedding and even though the rehearsal dinner, ceremony, cocktail hour and reception were at the same venue- each part of the weekend felt unique and intentional as the venue offers so many options. \nIts been fun to look at the other weddings that have happened since ours on Instagram because not one of them have looked similar. That must be the magic of The Hermitage Inn and Gina, as they truly allow you to bring your own wedding to life. \nCan’t wait to come back for a weekend and reminisce. We were devastated. It was quickly made clear that an international wedding was out of the question for the foreseeable future, so we redirected our search closer to home. After a few months of truly disheartening searching, we were directed towards Scott Farm. Really as soon as we pulled into the parking lot we were in love. It is nestled inside of rolling hills and the land is covered in beautiful orchards and picturesque white buildings. It was like a scene out of a movie--and it really was, as Good Will Hunting was filmed there! The process of planning the wedding with the staff at Scott Farm was truly seamless. Simon was kind, patient, and helpful, leading us through all the specifications and details of the site, and making himself available if we ever had any questions or concerns. And Jaja was a rock star--she went above and beyond in every aspect of her duties, especially on the wedding day. Without her calm and confident presence, trouble shooting problems and reassuring an anxious bride and groom, the day would not have gone so perfectly. I can't say enough about how supportive, pleasant, and wonderful everyone is at Scott Farm.
