Russ Powell

Russ has always loved music. From standing in the living room, pretending to conduct the orchestra as a toddler, to playing in multiple bands growing up. He got his start as a DJ in 2003 DJ'ing for his friend's sister's wedding. While there he met another couple who were impressed with his charisma and unabashed ability to engage the crowd, and leading a line dance when necessary, they asked him to DJ their wedding as well. From there it snowballed as he honed his craft both on the microphone and behind the mixer to create the professional sound and music services that Powell Wedding & Events represents today.

From the moment we first spoke with Russ and Morgan of Powell Weddings & Events, we knew we were in good hands. They were friendly, excited, and incredibly knowledgeable about weddings, which put us at ease throughout the planning process. On the day of our wedding, their exceptional service, energetic presence, and detail-oriented approach shone through. Russ kept the dance floor packed all night long with his fantastic music selection, while Morgan expertly captured all the special moments, resulting in photos we already adore. Russ and Morgan work so well together, and we truly loved having them by our side to help us celebrate our big day. I'm a professional wedding officiant of 18 years in Utah and beyond. I always tell my couples the most important thing besides me is their D.J. They can make or break your ceremony and reception. If I have a bad microphone for the ceremony, all anyone remembers is the cutting in and out. Good equipment is vital. Russ has some of the best. Second, your D.J. will either make or break your reception. A good DJ reads the guests and knows which direction to go in. Russ is an expert when it comes to this skill. Remember, your D.J. is guiding and directing the evening when it comes to toasting, first dance, cake cutting, and all the other things that take place during the reception. Your D.J is the Ringmaster that makes it all look easy and smooth. You want a professional D.J. with professional equipment. If you're lucky enough to get Russ, be assured, you've got both.
