My name is Amber, and I'm the owner of Smudge. I have been in the industry for 10 years working weddings, editorial, and film. Weddings have been a constant throughout my career and styling brides has been my favorite type of make-up. I love being a part of someone's special day and creating a look that makes them feel like the best version of themselves. In 2018 I started Smudge, a team of on-site hair and makeup artists based in South Eastern CT, specializing in weddings. We're an onsite team that serves all of Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, Massachusetts, and beyond. *Now booking 2025 and 2026*

We give 30 minutes for each service, and the bride will get an entire hour to perfect their wedding day look. We leave an hour down time in between being finished with hair and makeup and the time you need to be fully ready for first look/ceremony time. You'll appreciate that time so that you're not rushing and can take it all in.

Yes we do! We highly recommend having a bridal trial. Come the day of the wedding you will be confident in our beauty plan and will have one less thing to worry about. Our hair trial is $100 and makeup $100. We have a studio you can come to or we can travel for an additional fee.

As soon as possible! We have some brides book two years out. In order to guarantee your date, the sooner the better. Dates are not secure without a contract and a 50% non refundable retainer fee.

Smudge was a dream to work with throughout the whole process. From initial inquiry, through the trial, and to the day-of, they were professional, attentive, and reliable. When we had some extra people wanting services, Amber was so helpful and responsive with updating the contract. Everyone in my party was thrilled with their hair and makeup and it lasted perfectly all day - through humidity, rain, and a LOT of dancing. They kept us on schedule and were able to work with everyone's inspiration - whether it was a bolder look or something more natural. I felt so calm while sitting in their chairs knowing I was in the best hands!

Smudge was an absolute pleasure to work with for my wedding day beauty needs. From our very first consultation, Amber and Sarah were professional, responsive, and put me at ease throughout the entire process. Their communication style was pleasant and they expertly navigated a larger wedding party and two moms who were a bit indecisive. The quality of their work was worth every penny - my hair and makeup looked sleek and flawless, and it lasted all night without any cry streaks! Amber and Sarah were great! I felt the most beautiful I’ve ever felt! My bridal party had a great time working with them and we actually ended up ahead of schedule! They were both professional but still brought some great conversations and laughs to the room. I would highly recommend them for anyone looking for hair and makeup services!
