About Freckles Photo

Freckles Photo

Photographer

My name is Meagan Gauna, and I am the sole Owner/Operator of Freckles Photo. I graduated from the Art Institute of Houston with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Photography. I have seven year's of blood, sweat, and tears in this industry, and have appreciated every second of this never ending journey.

Working with me you will see how much I love what I do. What can I do for you to see how special each and everyone of you are to me? Is what I ask myself. We all have something. Something we do not show the world, something we are shy about, or maybe even insecure about. I am all about roaming around outside of your comfort zone and letting you discover what I find and create. There's never a dull moment. That is what sets me apart from others. I am patient, wild, overly enthusiastic, friendly, and overall diverting to be around. Your needs and wants are my top priority.

I deeply regret hiring Meagan Gauna (Freckles Photo) and am writing my first negative review to hopefully save others from the undue stress of making the same mistake. Highlights: - Showed up late and to the wrong venue (despite having been provided schedules and the venue address months in advance) - Missed roughly half of the photo opportunities we’d agreed upon her taking in-advance because of her tardiness & disorganization - More than 10 months and I still have yet to receive a single edited photo - Incredibly rude and unprofessional communication (when she even bothered to respond) - Completely ceased communications after repeatedly missing her own stated delivery dates There’s a lot I could say but I’ll do my best to keep it short. I shared a Google Sheet with Meagan months in advance and specifically asked for several shots. Some of the ones I’m most disappointed she missed were those of the bridal party & groom getting ready. I have absolutely none. When I sent the hair and makeup schedule showing we started at 10 am, she never mentioned she didn’t plan on showing up until 4 pm when all but my finishing touches were done. Whomever you choose as your photographer (especially if it’s Meagan) learn from my biggest mistake and never sign a photography contract without a clear delivery timeline in writing for your edits. Though I understand even more unanticipated unfortunate events unfolded in Meagan’s personal life after our early talks about her “delays in workflow,” being ignored for months after you paid a business for a service you still have yet to receive is unacceptable. I assumed edits would be processed in order of the date they were taken but she repeatedly insinuated any communication or updates I reached out for - about the work that was already months late - would mean she would just push my work down even further on her priority list out of sheer spite. This was a wholly unpleasant, unprofessional and unfortunate experience from start to finish. I have never worked with a small business that represented itself so poorly. Accountability, integrity & responsibility should not be your expectation if you choose to work with Meagan. I did receive the unedited photos several months into the endeavor but aside from that, no reimbursement, small photo “extras,” or any form of restitution was ever offered for the endless delays or inconveniences. Additionally, it was implied that my priority in the editing process was pushed down the list because I did not consent to social media sharing & my images could not be used to promote her business. Meagan used to have a good reputation, and many people I know have been happy with her work in the past. I thought her prior good reviews (and personal experiences from folks I knew) would mean this would be a fun and seamless process. However, in my experience, it seems like she no longer cares about her clients, her business or her craft. Meagan is unprofessional, unreliable, and a huge source of stress—all things you definitely do not need when planning your wedding. The very last thing you want to be doing in the months following your wedding is having to hunt down the photos you rightfully deserve & you can’t wait to see in their final form. Bottom line - If I could do it again, I would choose someone else in a heartbeat. Your wedding is a once-in-a lifetime event and you deserve a photographer who will actually deliver.
