Hey there! I'm Matthew, a veteran photographer with over 25 years of experience behind the lens specializing in budget-friendly, high-quality photography based out of Leander, Texas. I have been shooting since I was about ten years old on 110 cameras, in high school I learned to shoot on a 35 MM camera. Professionally I accepted my first paid shoot in 1996, a boudoir session for the girlfriend turned wife of a friend deploying overseas with the Army. I earned $50 and a six-pack of beer for a one-hour session on a Canon AE1 35 MM film camera I bought at a yard sale.

I believe photography should be fun and not boring. I like to go for the dramatic shot, the fun shots, the beauty of a sly smile and a bride and groom just having fun! I produce award winning shots without breaking the bank and treat folks like family!

Matthew is an excellent photographer. Matthew got recommended to us by our venue Texas old town. We called a few other photographers but his prices were the best and after getting our touches up pictures we are impressed and he delivered amazing results. From the beginning Matthew was so easy and flexible with the booking and payment. We agreed on a contract and met day of the wedding. The day of the wedding he jumped right in, me and my husband were busy and he noticed. he wasted no time getting detail shots and looking back at it I’m glad he did. those small moments mean so much and during getting ready that was never communicated and I’m glad he took initiative to do this. Matthew walked us through poses and easy going, he broke the ice with both of our families and this was a big plus for us as the pictures were fun to do. Matthew was so helpful in more ways than photography, he and our DJ were willing to work together if we didn’t have a wedding coordinator. We had multiple family helping with this but if your getting married you may have seen wedding coordinator prices and you will see why this is soo important. He also kept us on schedule. Throughout the wedding he came up to me and my husband asking if we were okay. HE HELPED CUT OUR CAKE. He walked us through the pose and how to do our first bite and HELPED SERVE CAKE TO OUR GUEST. My wedding was perfect and waking up the next day to have the raw photos available, it’s very clear Matthew cares deeply about his profession and it’s so understandable why he gets so many good reviews. I will recommend him every chance I get and he will be my go to photographer. Thanks Matthew!

When we were planning our elopement style wedding day, we were certain we wanted to hire a photographer. However, we were overwhelmed with the confusing packages and high costs until we found Matthew Chambers photography. We highly recommend hiring him for a no-fuss, easy experience. This was our first time hiring a photographer. We liked his simple 3 tiers of service (raw only, partial-service, or full service) and that he charges hourly based on service. The business model just made sense and fit our modest wedding budget. His common-sense pricing made professionally capturing our day accessible. We also liked that he is locally based in Leander and that he has a broad portfolio in case we wanted to re-hire him for future milestones/events. Most of our communication was done electronically via Zola or texting. With our busy schedules, this was preferred to make arrangements. So we met Matthew for the first time on our wedding day! Matthew was delightfully conversational and chatty which made relaxing easier. We loved the mixture of capturing moments “as is” and having him coach us through staged photos. He was very patient with our poor choreography skills. We had more fun with the posed photos than anticipated! Matthew was early to shoot and had a faster than promised turn around on photos. Less than 24 hours for access to raw photos and about 10 days for initially edited photos. While I say this, please note that we had a smaller project and turn around times can vary. The one thing we would do differently is length of booking. My husband and I were CERTAIN 2 hours would be more than enough for our simple nature elopement, but we probably could have booked 3 hours. We got all the shots we agreed upon (and more!), but it was more fun than expected. “The moment” truly goes by quicker than expected. So if you’re unsure, go ahead and book the extra time & savor the moment. Note: we found Matthew via Zola. My bestie recommended that I make a wedding site even though we were eloping. I’m glad I listened! One of the best things out of doing this was the “vendor locator” service on Zola. It connected us to photographers interested in working with us and got us directly messaging them. I read Matthew’s website and just instantly liked him and his work. Thankful he was available for our day! **attached is a sample of a raw vs edited from our day!

Mr.Matthew was amazing! He did my family photos the day prior and for my wedding. He made everyone smile and feel super comfortable with him. His photos came out amazing! And the ones he touched up are breathtaking. I will for sure recommend him to my friends or even when I’m back in the area!!

I shoot exclusively on Canon camera bodies, with Canon lenses. Currently I use a Canon 7D for most shooting, I prefer it over the more expensive 5D Mark III due to its faster shutter speed, high pixel count, and versatility in shooting. Off of the camera I use Wescott, Rogue, and Magmod products whenever possible, their quality has proven them unparalleled in every aspect.

Yes, I travel anywhere, however travel fees (typically the cost of gas, lodging if needed, and a reasonable fee per meal) may apply. I have shot from Wyoming to the Dakotas and Louisiana in just the past 5 years, however, typically I shoot in the central Texas area, Victoria, Corpus Christi, and along the IH 35 corridor.

Yes, deposits are required, for weddings and events it is half; however, for smaller shoots (less than $200) I typically will accept $50 or waive the deposit all together. A shoot is not considered booked until a deposit is received or specifically waived; holds will be entered for a few days in most situations to allow time for payment to be received. The balance is due prior to shooting beginning on the day of the shoot. Deposits are non-refundable and are outlined in our contract. If a deposit is waived that does not waive any cancellation fee if the session is cancelled.

When you pay for a photo book you’re paying for a photographer to organize your photos and order the book, which costs manpower hours and printing as well as shipping costs. Every package I shoot includes a CD/DVD of your original and edited images which allows you to create photo books and prints wherever you choose. This allows you to do prints and photo books at a fraction of the cost by using local labs and doing the organizing yourself. That being said, I do offer print ordering off my site with a limited markup.

A rare question overall, but fair. I do have some very limited restrictions on sessions. I will not shoot anything that is knowingly illegal, anything that advocates violence against anyone, or anything that promotes hate of any kind. I pride myself on being a diverse person and would rather not have your business than degrade the name of my business by accepting shoots that violate my personal creed. Matthew Chambers Photography does not discriminate based on age, religion, sex, race, national origin, or sexual orientation. If you’re in doubt, just ask.

In 2006 we began shooting digital as an option; in 2010 it became our sole form. If you require film shooting it can be arranged with enough notice.
