About this venue

Welcome to Alber Orchard & Freedom Winery. Only 30 minutes west of Ann Arbor or an hour from Detroit, our beautiful orchard provides a perfect country get-away in the rolling hills of Manchester, Michigan. This beautiful land was deeded in 1832 by President Andrew Jackson, and acquired by John Alber in 1881 to operate as an orchard and cider mill. Today's owners, Mike and Therese Bossory, are preserving the centennial orchard, gazebo, barns, and cider press to assure your family or special group with a clean, safe, relaxing time on the farm. Alber Orchard is also the ideal location for your wedding or special event, and we look forward to hearing from you. The orchard is a gorgeous setting at any time of the year, and our preferred vendors are extraordinary.

      Alber Orchard is gorgeous and relaxed, we loved it as far as scenery. Leading up to our wedding the owners were very generous with their time showing us around and we liked them quite a bit. Unfortunately for the day of our wedding a couple balls got dropped by the venue. It didn't ruin the day for us but it was disappointing and led to a less the optimum guest experience. We approached them afterwards with our feedback and they accepted it graciously and even went so far as to refund a portion of what we paid for the venue which we really appreciated. All and all I would recommend them as a venue if you hire your own event coordination team that you can trust to crack the whip when needed to make sure everything is in place for the day of. Also I would say that it would have been good to know that the barn is very very hot in the summer, even at night. The tasting barn is "air conditioned", but once there are 50 people inside it might as well not be.

We also sincerely appreciate your honest feedback about the day itself. Your wedding weekend happened to fall during record‑breaking June heat, and while the barns do offer some cooling, we know it wasn’t enough to keep things fully comfortable for guests. Since then, we’ve been exploring additional cooling options and refining our day‑of coordination to ensure smoother experiences in the future. It was unfortunate the extra keg we had tapped beyond your original commitment had technical difficulties, and had hoped a full refund for hard cider the day of the event would alleviate any stress caused on your special day. We appreciate the feedback and opportunity for continuous improvement. Wishing you both the very best as you start this next chapter together!

      We loved having our wedding at Albers! We were able to personalize so much and they were open to all our ideas! The owners as very nice and accommodating. Highly recommend!
