About this venue

Nestled on 60 acres of rolling hills, Board & Batten is a wedding and event venue near High Rock Lake, NC. We were recently named one of the top 40 barn wedding venues in the country by Country Living Magazine! Board & Batten was designed to make sure every inch of our property is perfect for your wedding day. We have separate spaces for the couple to get ready, room for over 200 guests, a huge covered porch, and an amazing back patio that features a fireplace and a bocce ball court. Our space brings the elements of a southern barn and industrial space together perfectly. There is no place around like Board & Batten.

With the combination of rustic charm along with modern-day elegance, you can turn Board & Batten Events into practically any type of setting that you prefer. Because this space was built and designed strictly with events in mind, its layout is extremely versatile. The venue offers both indoor and outdoor event space options and has capacity for up to 250 guests.

Board & Batten Events comes equipped with trained staff whose job it is to make sure that their clients are well taken care of. With featured rooms like a bridal suite and groom's quarters, couples will get the royal treatment on their big day. This venue offers a variety of furniture items available for use the day of your event. These items include white padded folding chairs, chiavari chairs, round dining tables and rectangular buffet tables.

No, all alcohol must be purchased and served by Board & Batten staff.

Yes. We have an on-site paved parking lot close to the building.

Yes, all our facilities are wheelchair accessible. We also have ramps at the main and side entrances, hearing-impaired fire alarm lights, and trained staff.

Yes! We welcome working with different vendors. We will require that they present additional documentation before they are welcome to perform their services at our venue. However, please note that Board & Batten serves as the exclusive catering and bar service for your event. All other vendors are required to carry appropriate liability insurance. Some fees may apply.

We believe in only hosting one event per day.

No, we do not include a wedding coordinator in your package at this time. We have a list of different wedding coordinators whom we believe will be able to best serve you at this capacity. Additionally, we will have a staff director onsite throughout your rental time to answer all questions and manage the venue for you.

We do not allow glitter, confetti (some confetti may be allowed, ask for clarification), cornmeal, loose straw, dark flower petals, real candles (exposed flame), mylar balloons, dried flowers, sprinkles or any non-biodegradable products. We do not allow staples, nails, screws, or duct tape on walls or floors. Please contact us for any clarification.

Yes! For a sparkler exit, we only allow 12-18” sparklers and must be lit 9’ away from the barn in a designated area specified by Board & Batten. All sparklers must be properly extinguished into a sand bucket provided by the venue.
