Welcome to McLellan’s Up & Up! A Southern-inspired wedding and events venue in Bessemer, Alabama.
McLellan’s Up & Up is a beautifully restored 4,700-square- foot loft located in the heart of the Downtown Bessemer National Historic District. Originally built in 1890 by William Berney, the second floor has housed everything from a bank to a five-and-dime before becoming the charming events space it is today. Restored in 2004 by Leigh Pate and Caterina Meadows, the venue showcases its original industrial character—exposed brick, massive pine beams, and soaring 18-foot ceilings— creating a warm, timeless atmosphere for any celebration. Now known as McLellan’s Up & Up (as of April 2025), the venue continues to honor its history while offering a stylish, intimate setting just minutes from downtown Birmingham and a block from the iconic Bright Star Restaurant.
