About this venue
The Barn at Bee Cliff, designed and built by owner John Allen, was completed in June 2020 after two years of labor and love. Nestled on the banks of the Watauga River beneath the Bee Cliff, it offers 1,944 sq ft on the main level, 312 sq ft in the hay loft, and a 520 sq ft covered porch. The fully equipped kitchen includes a large refrigerator and freezer, double sink, stove, warming oven, microwave, and ample counter space. Two spacious restrooms add convenience, while John’s craftsmanship shines through details of cedar, knotty pine, red oak, ash, and poplar—many reclaimed from an old church. A soaring 30-ft ceiling features trusses strung with decorative lights, and massive garage doors open the barn to river breezes. Outdoor ceremony options abound, with stunning natural backdrops along the riverbank and antique farm equipment offering unique photo opportunities.

Thoughtfully designed with both charm and functionality, the barn offers 1,944 sq. ft. on the main level, a 312 sq. ft. hay loft, and a spacious 520 sq. ft. covered porch. Inside, guests will enjoy the warmth of hand-selected woods—cedar, knotty pine, red oak, ash, and poplar—many repurposed from a historic church. A soaring 30-ft ceiling with exposed trusses strung in twinkling lights creates a magical backdrop for any celebration. Modern amenities include a fully equipped kitchen with ample prep space and two large private restrooms. Massive garage doors connect the interior to the outdoors, allowing fresh river breezes to cool the space naturally. For ceremonies, couples can choose from a variety of outdoor settings, from the riverbank with its breathtaking natural backdrops to rustic touches like antique farm equipment. • The Hen House: The Hen House is our adorable one-bedroom farm cottage and is fully-equipped for overnight stays. There is plenty of room for the bride to dress and hang out with her bridal party before the ceremony and cozy enough for the new couple to snuggle up together. Heated and air-conditioned for a comfortable stay. • The Bullpen: The Bullpen is the perfect place for the groom and his pals to prep and relax before the festivities begin. It comes with a refrigerator, sectional sofa, clothes rack, and foosball.
