The Cotton Room is a historic, fully inclusive wedding and event venue located in the heart of Durham, NC. Originally erected in 1900 as a textile factory, The Cotton Room now houses some of the Triangles’ most beautiful weddings and exclusive events. The Cotton Room offers a full suite of services to help you design every aspect of your event, including efficient event planning, delicious food, trendy beverages, serving staff and much more.

Our unique, dynamic space is large enough to hold over 400 guests yet intimate enough for a few dozen people to enjoy a small gathering.

The Cotton Room Durham is a chic and unique special event venue. The old cotton mill was refurbished, leaving beautiful and modern hard wood floors, rustic exposed brick and piping, and elegant glass windows around the permiter of the venue. It is the perfect space for your ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. Don't limit yourself to hotel ballrooms with neutral wall paper and drab (or excessively bright) carpet colors. The Cotton Room is a clean palette waiting to come alive with your vision for your Special Day!

Beautiful venue but hire your own coordinator

The Cotton Room was a beautiful location for our wedding. The food was great and the employees who helped serve it were kind and attentive. It was so nice having the venue provide catering and bar service. At the time we booked, it was not required to bring on your own wedding planner since the Cotton Room provides an onsite point person. However, I am extremely glad that we hired a day-of coordinator (I Do Weddings by Michele Workman, 10/10 recommend). The attitude of our Cotton Room contact is the only reason I am rating 4 stars instead of 5. I felt like she was always trying to rush us through our pre-wedding meetings and even the rehearsal. She did not make us feel at ease which is something we were looking for in a venue contact person. In fact, we were given a full hour for the rehearsal and finished well within that timeframe; two of my bridesmaids stopped to use the bathroom on the way out, and our Cotton Room contact went into the restroom behind them to hurry them out, despite the fact that we had not gone over the time limit. We had never planned a wedding before and were looking for some guidance and support which I don't think is a huge ask. It would have been nice to sense some enthusiasm from our Cotton Room point person. I would absolutely recommend the Cotton Room as a venue, but be sure to hire an amazing outside wedding planner like Michele because if you are only working with your Cotton Room contact, you will probably be left wanting more.

The Cotton Room was the perfect venue for our wedding. From the beginning, their communication was easy and timely, making the planning process so much smoother. The quality of their work and the overall value was simply beautiful and romantic and definitely worth the price! Courtney, our coordinator, was incredibly organized and answered all of our questions with patience and care. Their staff was efficient and very kind to us and all of our guests. The space itself is so gorgeous that decorations were a breeze - their all-inclusive experience made wedding planning stress-free. The Cotton Room team knows exactly what they're doing and they execute it flawlessly. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect wedding day.

From the first time we reached out, the team at The Cotton Room was prompt, friendly, and relaxed in all their communications, putting us at ease throughout the stressful wedding planning process. On the day of, their exceptional service and attention to detail were evident - they handled our guests' dietary restrictions with ease, and took amazing care of my husband and I, ensuring we were well-fed and cared for amidst the excitement. The space itself is absolutely beautiful, and the food was truly exceptional, receiving rave reviews from all of our guests. We are so grateful to the wonderful staff at The Cotton Room for helping make our wedding day perfect!!!
