Varsity Ballroom

The Varsity Ballroom is the primary event space at The Venue CU. Long sight lines, updated vintage brick, renewed original tin ceilings, and beautiful wood floors are just a few of the design elements you are greeted with as you walk through the grand entryway. The space is yours to decorate any way you like for your special event! With reception-style table and chair seating. Our unique, modern, one-of-a-kind lighting fixtures within the space not only provide ambiance for the event, but also stand as pieces of art as secondary decorations.

Main Street Lounge

When you first enter the Main Street Lounge from the Varsity Ballroom, you are greeted by a grand historic bar dating back to the 1930s. The Main Street Lounge is the primary bar/cocktail space but can be used for many additional purposes. The Lounge is outfitted with high-top tables and stools to create an open, flowing cocktail space your guests can enjoy throughout the evening. Both spaces have zoned audio equipment so that volume levels can be adjusted separately to provide a comfortable and enjoyable experience for everyone.

The Venue CU was an absolute pleasure to work with for our wedding. Their communication style was incredibly responsive, timely and transparent throughout the entire process. The quality of their work was truly immaculate - the venue itself was gorgeous, with a stunning industrial aesthetic that exceeded our expectations. Amy, our event planner, was fantastic at managing every detail and making us feel so taken care of. Dan, the DJ (Bugbee’s) /bar manager/owner who was on site that day, was amazing at anticipating our needs and ensuring the entire event ran seamlessly. He was even present at rehearsal to perfectly time music and took each music request we had. The venue and staff were above and beyond in every aspect, contributing greatly to making our special day perfect.

The Venue CU was just amazing to work with. Miranda was so knowledgeable and helpful in the planning process and made me feel so at ease with every decision I had made! She was so warm and welcoming from our first meeting throughout the whole process. The venue is beautiful and has so many great areas, from the on-site suites, the in-house bar area, on-site parking and of course the beautiful design of the building. So glad to have this gem of a venue in Champaign-Urbana and hope to be back as a guest very soon!!

We loved working with the Venue CU. They were really helpful during the entire planning process and have great local connections with vendors in the area. We did the Platinum package and it was worth it. Our coordinator was Rylee and she was amazing at communicating with the vendors the week of and helping us out on the day of.

We have 2 event spaces + the bridal and groom suites.
