Amazing Venue & Even Better People
The owners of Union Mills, Niko and Mary, are FANTASTIC human beings. They are kind, funny, and creative. They are wonderful to work with, created a beautiful venue, and serve delicious food. Their staff did a great job flipping the ceremony space into the reception space. The chandeliers in the reception area are gorgeous and the lighting in the cocktail hour space side is really cool. I highly recommend Union Mills for your next event!
Pros and Cons
Beautiful venue for a wedding, the food is great and the owners, Niko and Mary are very nice. However, the communication throughout our process to get answers and a single revision for our catering contract was difficult. They didn't seem prepared for meetings, our tasting, or the final walk through before the wedding which was a bit unnerving. My day of coordinator set up an extra call with Mary to make sure things were set and Mary was asking my day of questions about what was included in the catering contract... The day of our wedding, the staff were attentive and nice to my husband and I but there were no smiles for any other guests. They weren't rude but weren't friendly either according to guest feedback. One of the bar tenders was extremely rude and practically yelled at my mom at the end of the night when she was asking about getting decor from behind the bar during clean up. They also disregarded the main request that we had and that was identified on our contract which was no tip jar on the bar. For couples planning a wedding, while I can recommend the food and the venue for it's ambiance, I definitely recommend having a planner that can handle the communication issues so you aren't stressed and to ensure that things meet your expectations on your wedding day.
Perfect Venue
Union Mills was the perfect venue to bring my husband and I’s dream wedding to life. The in-house catering not only made the planning process easier, but the food was amazing; it was clear Niko wanted the menus to represent us as a couple and was receptive to all feedback to make the day perfect (even going as far as outsourcing an Italian delicacy we love to have it there!) The catering staff was fun, polite, and accommodating to any allergy need. The venue itself is BEAUTIFUL and matched our Black Tie aesthetic perfectly. With the chandeliers, Carroll Creek location, exposed brick, newly renovated cocktail hour space & bridal suite, our choice was easy. Both Niko and Mary maintained clear, efficient communication throughout the whole process, even once the wedding was over and it was New Year’s day to follow up on a missing item. I could not recommend this venue more!
