We had 110 people and everyone loved the crisp clean atmosphere of the venue. People had plenty of space to move about and we had a good size dance floor as well! My mother in-law was the one who made the suggestion to get married here as she had attended a wedding the previous year and loved it. We chose to have our ceremony outside on the hill in front of the gazebo and the setting was perfect. The trees had almost fully turned and the backdrop looked amazing in our photos. I loved that I could choose from a list of vendors and not be pressured into a preferred caterer. There was a shuttle from our hotel, which made this location very accessible for out of town guests. I highly recommend this location, you get so much value for what they offer. I was surprised and delighted to see that they had their package pricing available on the website, the transparency and openness was an immediate green flag (and why I think the one star review here is completely unwarranted). You are able to price out your wedding with them before even walking through their doors, which is exactly what we did. We quickly reached out to schedule a tour! We were greeted warmly and shown the beautiful grounds at Fern Hill before talking about what package we would most be interested in. We chose the Premier Package, but everything is completely customizable within that. We left the tour with a copy of exactly what our wedding would cost and it didn’t take us long to decide that we wanted to move forward with Fern Hill.\n\nThe all inclusivity of the venue is what puts Wedgewood over the top for excellence for us. In all my research, I couldn’t find any other venue that came ANYWHERE close to how all inclusive Wedgewood is. As a couple that has a hard time choosing what to have for dinner every night, we needed ease when it came to wedding planning. With Wedgewood we didn’t have to worry about finding a DJ, florist, caterer, or bakery. Beautiful invitation options are included, and the ones we chose allowed us to also add on extra decor and programs on top of that. They provided a lot of smaller decor necessities that saved us money and time (easels for signage, cake cutting utensils, baskets and boxes). The Bliss Benefits that are offered also saved us money on other expenses outside of what was already included. The best part is that your final cost is based off of your guest count, which can be changed up to 10 days before your wedding. When we had last minute declines, we were able to lower our final cost by hundreds of dollars. When we had another few declines happen after the 10 day mark, we were able to put that money towards adding lawn games on to our package. No money went to waste.\n\nThroughout the planning process, the team at Fern Hill answered any and all questions we had (no matter how small or seemingly silly). We were able to visit the venue multiple times through the year to be able to show our parents. When we decided to have a completely dry wedding, they were so excited for our signature mocktail ideas and helped us make that still fun and engaging for our guests.\n\nRehearsal day could not have gone smoother. The entire team at Fern Hill are efficient, communicative, and just overall so good at their jobs. Wedding day was even better. We felt so taken care of and supported by the staff. The flow of the event was seamless, even when the schedule needed to shift for extra photo time. We received so many compliments on every aspect of the wedding; from the gorgeous ceremony space, the delicious food, the beautiful centerpieces, to how warm and kind the event staff was. We literally have zero complaints. \n\nWe would highly recommend Fern Hill Barn, or any of the New England Wedgewood venues to anyone getting married. It was a completely stress free experience and has so much customization while still being all inclusive. We first visited about a year before our wedding and immediately felt like it would be the perfect place for our special day. We were greeted by the resident golden retrievers, who followed us on our tour. If you’re a dog lover, you’ll be very happy with this venue! But really, it was Amie, Mary Beth and the rest of the staff who sold us. We immediately felt like they cared about making your day as perfect as possible for us, which was very welcome after touring other venues which felt like they wanted to squeeze every penny from us. After we decided on the venue, Amie was so willing to work with people like us who wanted to plan every detail possible. Amie answered all of my questions and sent additional information like floor plans so I could plan who was assigned to each room as soon as possible. Her communication over email was so incredible helpful! We absolutely loved that we could have so many guests staying at the inn and knew that would be perfect for our winter wedding. Next came our tasting, which was such a fun event. There are two tastings a year, both in March (though I think you could have a private tasting if you need). We loved being able to stay at the inn for a night and meet all of the other couples getting married here within the year. As our wedding was in February, we had to wait a long time between the tasting and trying the food again, and it absolutely didn’t disappoint! Chef Jeff did an amazing job with our welcome party, breakfast and lunch the day of the wedding, the absolutely amazing wedding dinner (and late night snacks), and brunch the next morning! We heard that most couples have a hard time eating during their weddings, but we cleaned our plates! Definitely try the butternut squash ravioli, it is incredible! We had our ceremony in the barn, then moved to the bar in the inn for cocktail hour, then dinner in the dining room, and dancing in the living room. They take out the big pieces of living room furniture and move some chairs to the side for dancing. A lot of my family was skeptical about that, but the inn knows what they’re doing!! The dance floor was plenty big for our party of 60 (and I’m sure it could have accommodate larger groups), and the chairs on the sides were a huge hit! It was incredible to be able to sit down for a minute and still feel like you’re a part of the party. I know a lot of our guests enjoyed that as well. We got ready in the Norman Rockwell suite, which worked out well since we had a small bridal party. We also loved getting to see all the rooms in the inn - every room is thought out so well and has little details that are so fun to find! We thought the inn was what made our wedding weekend so magical and cannot wait to visit again on anniversaries or other special occasions. The staff is so helpful and caring about performing their positions with perfection. This includes Meesha, in charge of helping the couples with their planning and helping to coordinate their wedding weekend, and so much more, to Tajlei and Melissa, who are owners and Innkeepers, hands on and involved. The chef and his kitchen staff, the wait staff/bartending staff, the ground keepers/gardeners, the handy man who is also part of the staff that does all the wedding set up. I may have missed a department, but, the bottom line is when working there, one feels like family. A family whose sole objective is to give 100% to every wedding, every event.\nThe grounds are so naturally beautiful and the Inn has a personality of it's own that you will not find anywhere else! There is such an open mindedness and open hearted approach to everything. We live in NYC and planning a wedding while out of state seemed a little daunting, but the whole team here is so professional, responsive, friendly and welcoming that we felt comfortable we'd be able to plan from afar. We really wanted an outdoor element to our wedding while still having modern amenities and South Farms was the only place that checked all of our boxes with its beautiful fields, mix of indoor/outdoor spaces, interesting history and features, exposed beams, modern bathrooms, temperature control, and a charming indoor/rain option. The spaces all have great bones with a lot of room to make things personal and unique, and we felt the staff was really open to working with us to achieve our particular aesthetic. Jennifer was very accommodating in the beginning with scheduling our tour and answering our initial questions, and as we got closer to the wedding we met our venue coordinator Sam, who is amazing. She kept us on track, was super friendly (and patient with our thousand questions, details and project ideas) and we always felt confident that things were going to go smoothly on our day no matter the situation. We felt pretty organized and on top of everything as the day was getting closer, but so many small things come up that you can't predict and Sam was calm and on top of everything - we are so grateful to her and the rest of the team that worked on our wedding day. No matter how well you prepare, the day moves fast, and you need a vendor team you trust. Not only was all of South Farms dependable, but most of our vendors were from their preferred list, and everything was executed exactly how we imagined. Even working within their preferred list, we still had lots of choices to personalize everything from the caterer, to the lighting, to the decor. All of our guests complimented how beautiful and unique the space was, and how well executed all of our details were (which is thanks to the SF team). The team at The Hermitage made the entire process easy, calming and fun and made the weekend lovely, memorable and perfect. Gina was with us from moment one and was a constant professional who was warm, non-judgemental and available whenever needed. She made sure the day of went on without a hitch and took care of all the big and small details, making sure we didn’t need to worry about anything. I was very specific about wanting to start hair and make up later in the day and Gina adjusted the schedule and made sure I had my morning to myself. During the weekend Mercer, Jan, Sarah, Katia and so many others, along with Gina, made it the best weekend with all of our guests saying the same thing. From the rehearsal dinner, breakfasts in the morning, bar service and, of course, the big event, it was all excellent, personal and thoughtful. \nLocation and venue wise The Hermitage was again, perfect. The property and inn are beautiful, luxurious and luscious. It was incredible to have the entire inn to ourselves with our closest family and friends. The carriage house was a perfect home base to not only get ready in but to have drinks at and to have a little welcome event for just those staying at the inn on Thursday night. I have pictures of my parents and aunts and uncles sitting on the porch telling stories which I will cherish forever. The grounds were beautiful for the wedding and even though the rehearsal dinner, ceremony, cocktail hour and reception were at the same venue- each part of the weekend felt unique and intentional as the venue offers so many options. \nIts been fun to look at the other weddings that have happened since ours on Instagram because not one of them have looked similar. That must be the magic of The Hermitage Inn and Gina, as they truly allow you to bring your own wedding to life. \nCan’t wait to come back for a weekend and reminisce. We were devastated. It was quickly made clear that an international wedding was out of the question for the foreseeable future, so we redirected our search closer to home. After a few months of truly disheartening searching, we were directed towards Scott Farm. Really as soon as we pulled into the parking lot we were in love. It is nestled inside of rolling hills and the land is covered in beautiful orchards and picturesque white buildings. It was like a scene out of a movie--and it really was, as Good Will Hunting was filmed there! The process of planning the wedding with the staff at Scott Farm was truly seamless. Simon was kind, patient, and helpful, leading us through all the specifications and details of the site, and making himself available if we ever had any questions or concerns. And Jaja was a rock star--she went above and beyond in every aspect of her duties, especially on the wedding day. Without her calm and confident presence, trouble shooting problems and reassuring an anxious bride and groom, the day would not have gone so perfectly. I can't say enough about how supportive, pleasant, and wonderful everyone is at Scott Farm.
