I’m Heather and I am a cake artist! I offer custom wedding, birthday and celebration cakes. I have a Baking and Pastry degree from The International Culinary School at the Art Institute of Salt Lake City and 9+ years of cake decorating experience.

What's in a name? I wanted to opt for something that describes WHAT I make rather than who is making it. I strive for classic, but sophisticated. And details details details! My thoughts turned toward a pearl, it embodies all of those things and best of all, it’s timeless. Pearls when looked at closely have a slight shimmer. A detail at a distance is beautiful and “pearly” as we call it, but up close it’s really a gentle sheen of sparkle that causes that. Also known as luster. But don't forget the modern element I love to design with. That influenced the final spelling and look of the name LUSTR.

Since opening years ago, we have had the pleasure of working with hundreds of amazing couples, venues, companies and other Pros. Even as a little girl with my cupcake and lemonade stand, I never thought I'd get to turn my creativity into a career. I learned quickly; a desk job is not for me. She sat there--not partaking of her creations, but rather in the atmosphere she engineered. Laura Curtis, a Culinary Institute of America grad, was working as a R&D chef when she made her first batch of bright pink, tart & fruity Raspberry Hibiscus marshmallows. Her husband suggested she name the new amply fluffy creations Malvi, short for malvavisco, the Spanish word for marshmallow. She created Malvi Mallows using European-Style butter and Fair-Trade chocolate to make Malvi cookies extra rich, and dried hibiscus flowers, locally roasted espresso, whole vanilla bean, and organic Georgia peanuts to maximize marshmallow flavors, then built a business so that everyone can party s'more.
