Longacre boasts over 2 acres of boxwood and garden spaces to create a beautiful outdoor and English Garden wedding scene. We have several locations within the grounds for receptions and ceremonies to accommodate 25 to 150 guests. The Gazebo works as both a great wedding arch with the fountain area perfect for reception gathering of a Tudor house backdrop to your ceremony. Grounds can be rented for the day or the entire weekend, including the entire house and Carriage House for your caterer and wedding ready space. Make your wedding day the most unique and individually designed as you have dreamed. All catering services must be contracted through a third party. We can help you with tent and equipment rentals.

Poplar Hill is a 100 acre farm that was built in 1790. The home is surrounded by mature landscape with English boxwoods and crepe myrtles that are 100 plus years old. The facility can be leased for community events, musical performances, parties, weddings, and more. The old Amherst Baptist Church was the home of that church's congregation until 2005. Its sanctuary was constructed in 1882, making it the second oldest religious structure still standing in the Town of Amherst. Starting in 2012, a grassroots group took the initiative to save a historic structure in the heart of Amherst, VA, and to re-purpose it as a creative community center. Located in the middle of a vibrant village, the goal was to provide a gathering place for events. The class architecture and details of this circa 1880s historic building is sure to compliment any theme. The antique checkerboard flooring adds a touch of eclectic flair. The building also features two separate dressing/staging areas as well as a full catering kitchen.

On the of grounds of the Museum, enjoy your private event with the ambiance of the Avoca mansion and the original Revolutionary War era kitchen, as well as 18th century outbuildings.
