Built in 1893, the former city hall of Fort Wayne is a beautiful example of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture. As a museum and a historic building, the History Center has a unique character of its own for you and your guests to explore. Travel through time and learn about the history of Allen County and Fort Wayne through the museum’s fascinating exhibits. The History Center has three rooms available to rent, making it the perfect location for any event. The Shields Room is the centerpiece of the museum. It is the former City Council Chamber and Courtroom. Its features include golden oak paneling, a grand chandelier, large windows with expansive city views, and the restored 22-foot ceiling decorated in rich colors and 24kt gold-leaf stencils. You and your guests may ascend the Grand Staircase or use the elevator to reach the room’s second floor entrance. The Hopewell Barn is located about 1/2 mile south of the historic Hopewell Church. Built in 1872 and purchased by Deb in 2018, the church is listed on National Historic Register for its ties to Gene Stratton Porter. Gene was a famous author in the early 1900’s and the area of ‘Hopewell’ was used as the locale for the settings for several of her books. The name ‘Rustic Barn at Hopewell’ was selected to pay tribute to historic roots of the Hopewell area.

Our elegant indoor ballroom holds 175 guests for wedding-style service, and also features a gorgeous outdoor private ceremony area and large outdoor pavilion. Hamilton Lake's Cold Springs evolved from a 1870 farm purchase by Simpson Watkins. By 1885, Watkins Grove hosted picnics, leading to a hotel (1898), dance hall, and early 1900s recreation. Cold Springs Cottage Park, platted in 1896, grew significantly, with a unique leasing system. Sundays featured bands and speakers. Visitors arrived by train. A larger hotel opened in 1914, and the dance hall became a central draw with live music. A beach area developed later. The hotel prospered through the 20th century, adding a bar and modernizing. An 18-hole golf course was built. Dancing remained popular with big bands, later transitioning to rock. Today, Cold Springs offers a hotel, dining, bar, beach, golf, cottages, and retro dances, still family-run after five generations.

The Loft on Isanogel is one of the oldest barns in the area, beautifully restored. Once the home of Camp Isanogel, a summer camp for those with special needs, The Loft is a source of history and pride for the owners, Harry and Karen Holding. They raised their children just around the corner from the summer camp and enjoyed driving by and seeing the joy and hearing the laughter from the children at the camp throughout the many years the camp was in business. They are beyond happy to now see the smiles from the happy couples who have chosen to say their “I dos” on this one-of-a-kind, breathtaking property.
