We knew we wanted to capture this day without the photography becoming a chore or hindering our ability to do what we do best and enjoy our time. He was super focused, detail orientated, bilingual, fun and laid back. He captured so many incredible behind the scene moments and my family kept saying we didn’t even see him take that picture. “My partner and I reached out to Xiao for an elopement photo shoot after we got our marriage license. Xiao is always prompt in her responses and offered seamless communication. As newbies, we were a bit confused about the steps on how to get the license, although it was not her job, Xiao gave us many tips. Our elopement photoshoot date was a bit rainy. Xiao offered a few indoor photoshoot spot options. We ultimately went with the Library of Congress, and Xiao even helped us reserve the tickets. Xiao instructed us on how to pose when we felt a bit awkward. We had so many random funny encounters with other visitors at Library of Congress and they gave us many compliments. Xiao went above and beyond to mark sure the day was special for us and that the photoshoot felt personal and fun. My partner is usually camera shy but he eventually opened up. The photos also turned around super quick. The photos came out beautiful although it was a gloomy day. We picked out a dozen photos of our choice two days after the photoshoot and Xiao made the edits turn around super smoothly. Highly recommend booking her to make your special day memorable as well!”

We opt-ed not to do an engagement shoot, but if we had to do it all over again, we absolutely would with Villa. During day of, Villa was extremely detailed and organized. She arrived early to the venue to capture photos and understand the space overall. She was very good about taking photos in a way that didn't interrupt the flow of events while navigating a fairly large and irregularly shaped venue. We received a great blend of editorial and photo-journalistic images that really captured the day beautifully. She has a great eye for wide shots, close up details, and artistic framing. Our wedding day started on a sunny day at noon and ended in the evening. Villa shot great photos throughout all the lighting changes during the day including many flash photography and low light shots after the sun had set. “My husband Will and I got married in October and we planned everything together. Hands down, the easiest and best decision we made (besides going through with the marriage ;-)) was picking Chris as our photographer. He was so easy to work with from the get go. We set up a brief meeting, shared our vision (we wanted a "photojournalist approach"), and mapped out a schedule of events. Anything that we did not think to ask, he made sure to bring up and help make our vision more complete. Chris was excellent at capturing all of the tiny moments of the night without being in anyone's way. The pictures that he captured were absolutely STUNNING--the perfect amount of sentimental moments captured in beautiful lighting and silly off the cuff moments that captured the essence of each and every guest. We would work again with Chris in a heartbeat and friends have already requested his contact information for their ceremony. As an added bonus, because we did not end up using Chris for all of the allotted time, he offered to do a separate photoshoot whenever we would like. It's those little attention to details and customer service which make Chris stand out from the rest. Our photoshoot was at the National Portrait Gallery, so she also worked closely with my fiancée to find lots of different art and settings throughout the museum —looking back at the photos now I can really see how her artistry and vision came to life! She expertly worked with the art to use dynamic angles and perspectives that were unique and gave us a lot of options. We also took a few pictures at the Christmas market outside the gallery, and even those came out amazing, which is so impressive considering it was PACKED and we could barely move! It’s hard to put into words how much it means to have such a special time preserved so beautifully. Since I was so surprised, a lot of the day went by in a blur, and I’m so thankful to be able to relive it again and again through the photos. I couldn’t stop crying when we got them and have gotten ENDLESS compliments since posting them on social! WE LOVE NATALIE!!”
