It's a long story but a french woman by the name of Florette sparked my interest at 6 years old. I visited her at her home, which was her shop as well, my whole childhood. She taught me everything about greenhouse management, growing plants and floral arranging. What she really gave me was a love for growing and designing gods most beautiful creations. I was born into this business. I began working with roses and flowers as a young girl in Ecuador. I grew up watching them grow on the hillsides, and sold in the markets. My grandfather Herman Kanlund, was one of the first florists in San Diego to be a part of FTD in 1936. He started his floral business on ten acres of roses and tulips in Kearny Mesa, SD.
