Karen Duckett Events + Design is a full service wedding and event design firm that is rooted in Southern hospitality. Our mission is to cultivate an immersive event experience that leaves your guests in absolute awe—sans the stress that so often accompanies planning a bespoke celebration.

Karen Duckett has always been enamored with the world of weddings and can’t imagine working in any other arena. Her 15-year (and counting) tenure in the hospitality industry includes time in event management and catering sales for venues—which allows her incredible insight when it comes to working well with venues and curating the best creative teams on behalf of her couples. An LVL Academy grad and certified wedding planner, she brings a sense of efficiency and urgency to every aspect of the planning process—whether she’s mocking up a custom design board or helping a bride down the aisle.

Karen was so amazing to work with from start to finish. Our wedding day was absolutely beautiful and Karen helped make that possible for us. She helped keep everything flowing smoothly and assured me that she had it covered and she absolutely did. She knew exactly what I wanted and helped make our special day so relaxed by not having to worry about the little things. Once my husband and I picked our wedding venue, they stated that they required a day of planner. I looked around and an old friend recommended Karen. I contacted her and told her that I wanted to do most of the planning and was looking for a day of planner. The pricing of her services seemed fair and so we met up for a first meeting. She asked me about my life, my husband, and what we envisioned for our wedding. She was so friendly and I knew this would be a good match. Even though Karen was my day of planner she was willing to come to the things I asked her too (i.e. picking out table linens and plating). As the months went along Karen sent me emails checking in and setting me up on aisle planner so I could keep everything organized. The month before our original wedding date (April 2020) she had discussed with me every detail down to the minute of how the day would go and layout for everything. When COVID happened and we had to change the date to Nov, she was ready to help in any way she could. She helped calm my nerves and frustration. Again while my husband and I waited for Nov to come around Karen constantly checked in. Once again the month before we were in constant communication about layout, seating, guests, meal plans, etc. On the day of our wedding she was unbelievable. She brought a few other people with her to help set up and everything was amazing! She checked in periodically to see how I was doing and spoke often with our photographer, caterers, and all other vendors. At the end of the night everything was packed up and put in the cars that were taking things back. I and my husband did not have to worry about anything. We got to end the night with no worries about where the décor was or how we were going to get it all. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Karen whether it is a day of planner or full service.

Karen is WONDERFUL to work with! Karen designed and planned and executed, beautifully, both my rehearsal dinner and wedding. Working with Karen from the very beginning (pretty sure I had her before I was even engaged haha) was amazing and made everything a breeze. She used my adjective soup to create an epic design plan that was a beautiful representation of both myself and my now husband. Working with Karen felt like I was working with the most loving and kindest sister that truly was able to understand and create everything I had ever envisioned!! Through her design, guidance, suggestions and organization, my wedding was picked for the 2024 Virginia Living Wedding Edition. Karen is a gem and I cannot recommend her enough!
