I began my journey training at ICE in New York City and worked at celebrated bakeries, including The Chocolate Room, Balthazar, and Billy’s Bakery.

We partner with local New York State farms, as well as other small farms globally, such as Hattori Farms, who make the matcha we use in our gelato. Jon Payson and Naomi Josepher moved to NYC in the early Nineties. Together, they enjoyed seeking out phenomenal desserts all around the city. When they moved to Park Slope, Brooklyn in 2003, they noticed a need for a dessert café on quickly changing Fifth Avenue. After reading an inspirational book on chocolate, they decided to create a café specializing in high-end chocolate, extraordinary desserts, handmade ice creams, dessert wines and beers from all over the world, as well as superb coffee. They opened in January 2005 and is currently serving the Cobble Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn.

SnoScoops came out of a need for a refreshing yet delish dessert that met my dietary needs. In 2024, I went on the Paleo diet as part of the 75 Hard, and found it difficult to find a dessert that was sugar free, dairy free and oat free so I made my own. Mini Melanie was founded in 2015 by sisters Melanie and Diana Moss. Melanie grew up baking with their grandmother, and her hobby steadily grew into an obsession. While attending Northwestern University, Melanie studied in Paris and was Sous Chef at Cours de Cuisine atelier. She later attended the Institute of Culinary Education and honed her craft in the Michelin-starred kitchens of Babbo and Blue Hill at Stone Barns, where she was Pastry Sous Chef. Melanie’s desserts have been recognized in the 2016 New York City Michelin guide, and in 2018, Melanie became Champion of a special-themed chocolate competition on Food Network’s CHOPPED.
