We enjoyed the Great Room in the Grist Mill for our rehearsal dinner. Our guests loved how spacious Drumore Mill was, and we appreciated all the attention to detail such as included (but still optional) decor and greenery, and the setup of chairs and other items for the ceremony space. Being able to bring in all of our own vendors at no additional cost was fantastic. The value for renting the property from Thursday to Saturday morning was unmatched and completely worth it. Very scenic and beautiful venue! Overall a pretty good venue that includes food, tables, chairs, linens, etc. The ballroom house itself is beautiful with lots of light indoors due to the large windows, and a nice deck for an outside ceremony. Zoe communicated with us and answered all our questions and did our tasting and planning, until a week before the actual day where we were assigned a day of coordinator. \n\nI found this system to be not great, since the day of coordinator was essentially a stranger that you've never talked to at all, and you basically have to re explain everything you want. Even though they have an online planning tool (which is old and outdated), I found that they got our aisle directions wrong, the reception layout wrong, and our dinner meals were wrong. Thankfully, we had a separate planner that was able to correct these things, so I recommend getting an outside coordinator that works directly with you if you have room in the budget. \n\nAnother thing was our limited setup time of 1.5 hours meaning the florist and other vendors couldn't set up earlier with more elaborate decorations and had to do something simple. I found out that this is because they had another wedding at the same place before ours (literally ending at 4) and so they rush to get the place cleaned for the evening wedding. The main room and the suit was renovated, but the bathrooms were all still dingy and not the best/cleanest to use. \n\nThe food was good though, better than we had at our tasting and they got it out fast. Our vendors were fed the same food, and our guests thought it was pretty good wedding food. Apart from the couple hiccups we had, we thought the venue was great overall and really beautiful and we don't regret having our wedding there at all. Ruthanne and her entire event staff at Kiln Creek Golf Club & Resort deserve all of the love and recognition for helping to orchestrate a seamless event from start to finish. \nI was unfamiliar with venues in this area, and my now husband and I searched from the Outer Banks to Newport News to find something that fit our vision and price point, and Kiln Creek did all of that. For both of us, it was important that the venue gave us that \"This is it\" feeling! All of the venues we looked at in Suffolk, Norfolk, and VA Beach were just missing something. Then Kiln Creek Golf Club & Resort popped up on my searches and I am sure glad it did! Ruthanne went out of her way to make sure all of my questions were answered and that she saw my vision properly for the big day. That is what was so amazing, that she puts every bride’s vision as a huge priority and she was there to make sure we set up times to meet to go over everything in fine detail. She even added extra special touches because she wanted to, and they were perfect. \nWe stayed at the Lodge, ate at the Nest for dinner one evening prior to the event as well as breakfast the day after the wedding, and the rooms were spacious, beds comfortable and food was delicious! Shout out to Jordan, Christine, Crystal and all of the other amazing servers and staff on location! \n\nMy husband and I had the most amazing day of our lives! Tracy was friendly and enthusiastic from our first meeting to the big day. The venue itself is stunning, with so many different spaces to celebrate in. \n\nThe weather threw us a curveball. It started pouring right as our ceremony was set to start under the patio. The team was so professional, working through our game plan. As we began the ceremony, the weather became too severe, and we had to pause, but Tracy was there the whole way, ensuring we handled the situation as best as possible while staying true to what my husbvendorsand and I wanted. I would not have wanted any other team around me. By the end of the night, I had almost forgotten the rain had ever interrupted.\n\nTheir knowledge of the area’s area and coordination with them is unmatched. I am a worrier, and I felt so comfortable putting my wedding in The Maine’s hands. It is evident that Tracy and her team truly cared about making our day what we wanted.
