The Carlsbad Windmill is a beautiful venue and I loved having it as an all in one package. It made wedding planning so easy while still being customizable in many ways. We had an amazing day and everything went smoothly. As a bride, I did not have to worry about much. My only caution is that they can change the food options at their discretion so the food that is there when you book with them may have slight changes when you get to closer to your actual wedding date. This was not a big deal for us but they did change the filet mignon option to a sirloin. Other than that, every one we worked with there are kind and helpful. They are quick to answer any questions you have throughout the whole process. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to plan a wedding in the area. The ceremony, cocktail hour and reception are all on the same property/building which makes a very easy transition for the guests from place to place. Many beautiful options for photos on site as well along with the beach and flower fields close by.

Perfect venue for amazing views and unique setting great for nature lovers. Maybe the best part is that what you pay to rent the facility goes to the MTRP Foundation to support the park- it's like making a donation! We loved that so much. Oakwood Creek Celebrations

5.0

Julian, CA
  • Up to 100 guests
  • Select services
  • Outdoor
  • Starts at $6,200

Oakwood Creek was built in the 1930s by WW Wood and his wife Leanora. Wood drove a truck that hauled dairy milk from the outlying ranches into the town of Julian. Later on, Wood would operate B&L Liquor on the main street. The remains of W's garage are still very apparent on the property today, along with his goat shed & stables. We have one of the last intact water towers in the historic district. The property has been preserved to reflect the period in which it was built. This beautiful venue sits atop a picturesque knoll overlooking the historic town of Julian. Sherry Horton, owner of Oakwood Creek Celebrations, offers signature style that everyone—no matter their affair—will find "oh so easy". Growing up in rural Ohio, Sherry brings the style of country that is reminiscent of simpler gracious time, learning from her grandmother Emma Barrett of all things romantically beautiful. Sherry’s work has been featured in Country Living Magazine, Where Women Create, and San Diego Magazine.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Pets can join the celebration
  • Creates a sense of togetherness
  • Surrounded by nature

Oakwood Creek made our wedding dreams come true...if you are looking for a rustic, charming, cozy, and intimate venue, look no further - you have found it in Oakwood Creek. As a couple that paid for our wedding ourselves, finding the perfect venue, location, setting all within budget started out challenging. But after one tour at Oakwood Creek, we knew right away we found our venue. (It actually was our first and only tour, that's how certain we were.) We had 35 guests (planned for 40) and it was the perfect size. My husband and I only wanted our closest friends and family so this venue was perfect for us. We were able to get plate rentals through the venue and coordinated all of our vendors through Oakwood Creek. The entire team at Oakwood Creek is amazing. I definitely had a few moments of tears before the wedding after 100% rain was forecasted on my wedding day but the team pivoted everything indoors for the reception and we were able to do the ceremony outside. They all kept me grounded and answered every single one of my questions (there were MANY) lol! If you are looking for not just a stunning venue but also a wonderful and kind team that will make the best day of your life even more memorable, definitely schedule a tour at Oakwood Creek and book your wedding day now!

We had our wedding anniversary at the Prado and it was the dream celebration I wished I'd had for our wedding! FIrst off, the options we were offered for food choices was over the top. Everyone was so accomodating helping us with things. The day of, I felt like a Queen! I never lifted a finger- the staff always made sure I had a drink in my hand, and each time I got up from my chair, I came back to a seat with fresh a fresh napkin. The wait staff is so professional- they are there but not in your face. Everything we needed or wanted was handled for us. • Accommodates more than 200 guests

Venue considerations

  • No all-inclusive dining options
  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • Venue feels large for events with small guest lists
We hosted our daughter’s wedding last weekend. The venue is literally the perfect setting for a wedding and we received exuberant praise all evening for how beautifully magical everything was. I believe that our event was their largest to date (240), which meant that we had to split the ceremony and reception between the lower and upper gardens. Initially, we were concerned about having to make our guests trek from bottom to the top gardens (or take the provided shuttle), but this provided the guests with a charming walk through the gardens to gain an added element of beauty to the night. Marina, the event lead, was incredibly responsive and helpful throughout the entire process. Having a different starting location from the ending can be tricky (especially with a lesser know entry way), but the detailed instructions and maps that Marina provided proved to be extremely helpful in guiding everyone.

The Lane

5.0

San Diego, CA
  • Up to 300 guests
  • Select services
  • Indoor & outdoor
  • Starts at $5,000

Situated on Lane Field, site of the original Padres stadium, The Lane offers 12,000 square feet of versatile indoor / outdoor event space. The layout creates an effortless flow between the gathering areas, culminating in a covered terrace with iconic views of the San Diego Bay. The elevated 3,500-square-foot terrace overlooks the waterfront and Lane Field Park. Enjoy music, lounges, bars, or appetizer stations in the San Diego sunshine before moving the party indoors. The terrace provides the ideal backdrop for cocktail hours, intimate ceremonies, sunset networking events, and more. The Lane also offers a furnished bridal suite, stylish restrooms, a large prep kitchen, and modern amenities. Book The Lane as a turn-key venue, or use the space as a creative palette to bring your vision to life.

After touring several venues, we ended up choosing the very first one we saw—The Lane—and it was absolutely the right call. The venue gave our wedding the exact look and feel we had hoped for: modern, clean, coastal, and elevated without ever feeling formal or stuffy. From the start, we were drawn to The Lane’s gorgeous indoor/outdoor layout, its location close to the airport (super convenient for guests!), extended rental hours (12p–12a), and the fact that tables and chairs were included in the price—all at a very reasonable rate. Another huge plus: its direct connection to multiple hotels, which made setting up room blocks a breeze and took transportation logistics off our plate entirely. That peace of mind was invaluable. Our ceremony took place on the balcony overlooking the water, which gave our guests such a quintessential San Diego experience. Cocktail hour followed at the opposite end of the balcony, keeping the ocean views going as the sun began to set. The reception had a beautiful indoor/outdoor experience—some guests danced the night away while others enjoyed chatting on the balcony. Watching the sunset light up the room during dinner was one of the most memorable moments of the night. With 150 guests, the space felt just right—roomy without feeling too big. The small bridal suite was also a great spot for our wedding party and family to gather before and after the ceremony, and we got some sweet photos in there too. Every step of the day ran smoothly. All of our vendors had no trouble working with The Lane’s team and layout—it was seamless from start to finish. We’re so grateful we found this gem of a venue. If you're looking for something that’s stylish yet relaxed, and offers a true San Diego experience, The Lane is it!

The Secret Garden was the perfect venue for our group of 105 guests in May. It has an intimate feel, but still feels open and welcoming. The flowers were in bloom and the grass was very green. The coordination team did an amazing job accommodating all of our set-up requests and took great care of us on the day of. We are very pleased with everything and loved the preferred caterer and DJ that were part of the all-inclusive package. Overall we found this venue to be one of the more affordable options, especially given you bring in your own alcohol/drinks and can take home what’s leftover. This saved us at least 50/person. Lomas Santa Fe Country Club made the whole wedding planning experience easy so my now husband and I could focus on the day. From handling the amazing food to coordinating the table florals, the team at Lomas works really hard to give you a perfect day. Some highlights from ours: (1) The food. The chef is phenomenal and very flexible when it came to our diet restrictive guests. Everything we tried was amazing and I got rave reviews from my guests that there was more than enough delicious food throughout the event. Also, all the stars for our “getting ready” brunch spread with fun carved fruit included. (2) The staff. From Caryn and Chelsi to the whole bar/wait staff day off, everyone was so kind and seemed genuinely happy to be there. They really made our event feel even more special. Shout out to our waitress who ended up finding us before her shift was over to give big hugs and wish us well. (3) Location and facility. Both my husband and I are from San Diego and knew we wanted to be more central for our North County and Downtown friends and this was the perfect spot. Our golden hour pictures with the ocean in the background and shots in front of the iconic Lomas window were beautiful. Additionally, both getting ready spaces were private, large, and (for the bride) had a large area to do makeup and hair. The actual event space required very little decoration too since the ceremony space is on the golf course with the ocean in the distance and an arch is included in your package. Also, the reception space is just beautiful on its own with the huge fireplace, wood beam ceilings and chandeliers. Overall, my wedding planning experience was very seamless due in large part to the great group at Lomas.

As the couple, we were always put first and asked throughout the day if we needed anything, which is super nice when you are busy with your guests. Our coordinator was Bre and she was so sweet and made sure that everyone (bridal party) knew what they were doing. Our DJ Kyon, was also so sweet and amazing about checking in with us on timing throughout the reception, and getting everyone on the dance floor. We really felt like we were put first. I can not recommend this place enough!! It is a beautiful venue. Everything is in one area so there are no long walks, or driving for guests. My grandfather was in a wheelchair and had an easy time getting around. I loved that I was able to text the venue at anytime so if I felt like something was amiss, it was easily handled and I would get the answers I needed, as well as the venue taking notes on requests I made.
