Catherine Chapman and her staff were professional, communicative, and had our best interests in mind right at the start, from working out all of the last-minute details to staying in touch in the weeks following our wedding. They worked to ensure all of our needs were met – from food allergies to necessary photo breaks – and when we had questions or needed a last-minute change in our plans, they did everything they could to go above and beyond our expectations. The biggest takeaway we heard from our guests was how amazing the food and beverages were, and we couldn't agree more. At cocktail hour, the hors d'oeuvres were passed frequently, the appetizer stations were a hit, and the bar staff was excellent at keeping the lines moving. At the reception, there wasn't a clean plate in the entire ballroom. We also appreciated that the venue had great recommendations for vendors. “Grill 28 is a very affordable venue with the luxury of the beautiful Pease Golf course. Grill 28 made it possible for us to have a bigger wedding we wanted. My husband got married there October 2023. Planning was very hands on. Not traditional wedding venue but still made a great effort in planning. We had an amazing experience planning up until the wedding. Food was great everyone enjoyed it. We were able to afford open bar for 3 hours and signature cocktails Our wedding day was rainy, at some points full out poring rain. I feel this threw a wrench in the day and to the staff. I would say the venue is not rain friendly . Pictures were hard as we couldn't take them on the golf course, We had to take them in the tent with them zipped not exactly what I pictured when I spent thousands on a photographer. We even took some pictures in the SIM room I fear that were worse look like a JCPenny backdrop. However before the rain we got to have our ceremony outside on the fairway and it was GORGEOUS. I will post some photos, the staff was very accommodating for the DJ , photographer, and videographer to get them shelter in case rain broke out. I sent pictures of how I wanted my tables and decor set up and they knocked the set up out the park it looked amazing We were promised to have a dedicated server to my husband and I to bring us drinks and hors d'oeuvres while we take all our pictures in-between ceremony, that never happened. In fact my husband and I didn't get any of our hors d'oeuvres and they told us they ran out and then supplemented with cheese and crackers. Last complaint is our card box with thousands of dollars was left in the tent after the wedding, my husband and I realized at 2am and had someone drive us to the venue to get the card box. We walked right into the tent and took it. I spoke with other friends and all their venue event mangers made sure the box was given to a family members or the couple before they left the wedding night or at least kept safe inside. We were really upset about this. I do believe the event manager we worked with is no longer at Grill 28. All in all, it is a beautiful venue at the right price if you get a good day. I'm sure its amazing and much smoother. Once we booked Grill 28 for our day I struggled to find reviews and pictures of the venue so I hope this help a future bride and the restaurant leaves my honesty”

“I learned of this place from a local source, and my husband and I were excited to get married at this gem in Barrington. Karen was responsive and lovely to work with, giving us contact information for vendors who had worked with the Barn before, and making sure that her sons moved tables and chairs around for us. Their existing furniture saved time and money, so it was super convenient. It is important to note that if you do choose this venue, there is no heating or cooling in the barn, and there is no existing bathroom; we got married in the middle of October and though it was chilly outdoors, the barn itself was fairly warm. We rented a bathroom trailer, which had a perfect spot just outside the venue and it wasn't a problem at all. Overall, the peach farm is a gorgeous place to get married!”

“I had my eye on The Grove at Briar Barn Inn since it was simply a blueprint on an Instagram post. From the start, I knew it was going to be where I would get married someday. There is just something so quintessentially charming about the post and beam restaurant and the quaint New England Inn. The entire experience working with The Grove was great. We picked December 8th for not only the idea of a winter wedding but also for the holiday decor and availability for our preferred vendors. They were flexible in putting together the details and stuck to all the outlined dates and deadlines. We were assigned our wedding coordinator, Jeannine, about six weeks out as they said, and we were able to have our wedding details meeting soon after. The payment portal was easy to use, and the planning pod was intuitive and a great spot to keep important details in order. Jeannine answered all my questions promptly, and in the week leading up to the wedding, she was available for us to drop off all the decor ahead of time and spent time reviewing our vision one last time. On the day of, she was present, available, and helpful. She was detailed and organized and never pushy. She let us have our day and was there to help transition to the different elements seamlessly, paying attention to all the details so we wouldn't have to. Our guests have had only positive things to say about the entire day from the incredible food and the overall atmosphere. The only critique I have of the entire experience is the check-in process at the Inn. We had a 20 room block and ended up with 29 of the 30 rooms booked by our guests. The Inn has a very strict 2pm early check-in for 50 fee or 3pm otherwise check-in. We had a Sunday wedding in December where we had a first look and formal portraits at 2pm before a 4:00 ceremony because of the early sunset. We weren't able to stay Saturday night due to another wedding buy-out. The Grove accommodated me by making the hospitality suite available for us to get ready in; however, the Inn did not accommodate the groom getting ready. We rented out the Silo/Library for 250 to try to have a space for the men to get ready, but they didn't set up the privacy screen and there were too many people milling around for him to get changed in the non-private space. After a lot of inquiry from our wedding coordinator, our officiant, and our makeup artist, they finally let him into the room at 1:45 for the additional 50, but at that point it was only enough time for him to drop his phone and wallet. He ended up changing in the single stall bathroom in the basement of the Inn, which is a nice bathroom of course, but we would have liked a little more flexibility for us to have 1 room with early check-in to give him a bit more privacy. Flipping one room early for the bride and groom doesn't seem like a lot to ask in the grand scheme of the day or even offering some alternatives - we likely would have paid for a full extra night even if we couldn't get into the room the night before just to have the spot, but they didn't give us any options to work with until 1:45 p.m. ahead of 2pm call time. My recommendation for future couples is to negotiate into the wedding contract for something ahead of time if you could potentially run into the same issue, especially if you're out of towners who don't have other options nearby.”

“Based on previous reviews of weddings at the Colony, we lowered our expectations for wedding day but stuck with the venue as it is stunning, large enough for all of our guests, and in our preferred location of Kennebunkport. Our wedding exceeded expectations and was PERFECT, other than the cloudy day. Nicole is the best! Since we started planning over a year ago, there have been three different wedding coordinators at the Colony and we are SO grateful that Nicole was the one with us in the final months and on our day. She really executed every little detail of our day to make it perfect. Nicole provided such great insight and recommendations, a testament to her years of experience. The Colony is lucky to have her! Of course we could not have had such an amazing wedding weekend without the wonderful staff at the Colony. We are seriously blown away by all of the hotel staff and the staff on the day of, they were extremely prompt, professional, and helpful to make our vision come alive and stick to our requested timeline. The chef and kitchen staff were able to serve 190 entrees in 20 minutes, incredible! The food was also delicious, we received several compliments about the appetizers, entrees, late night food, and morning after breakfast. Most of our guests stayed at the Colony and found the rooms lovely and comfortable. The new Coveside rooms provided a great option for guests seeking more modern accommodations.”
