Strange Delight is contemporary take on the classic oyster bar, located in Fort Greene in Brooklyn. Strange Delight takes its influence from the cuisine of New Orleans and is also inspired by the rich history of oysters in New York. Its menu, from Chef Ham El-Waylly, consists of regional seafood prepared in a variety of styles: Charbroiled Oysters and Shrimp Remoulade share the stage with classic seafood towers and Oysters Rockefeller. To drink, Strange Delight updates New Orleans classics, serving a festive Hurricane and Ramos Gin Fizz service for two, alongside your standbys - Martinis and Sazeracs. Our wine and beer lists feature our favorite American producers. Strange Delight is a unique venue, ideal for a number of types of events: from cocktail hours to rehearsal dinners, birthday parties to record releases, we're here for your parties to come.

Centered around our beautiful custom bar, The Back Room is our main dining room. It features a number of configurations to accommodate your party. The use of color, mirrors, and coat hooks is meant to tip a hat to the classic dining rooms of New Orleans. The expansive skylights also create an airy, spacious room that’s warm, inviting, & comfortable.

The front room, or Kitchen, pays homage to the classic oyster counter found throughout the U.S. It’s multi-color marble bar top holds seats for nine, viewing the open kitchen. High top counter tables line the walls, perfect for perching with a cocktail. Host off-peak events in just this space, or let it function as a warm welcome before your seated dinner in the back.

I love to recommend Strange Delight to couples for various wedding-related events. Engagement parties, bridal showers, wedding welcome parties, micro-weddings, after parties, and farewell brunches, just to name a few. Their space is thoughtfully designed, adorned with unique fine art that nods to it's New Orleans roots. It's colorful in a way that offers a decorative backdrop to the ever-so-cool minimal event. The bar and food programs are creative, fairly priced, plentiful, and so delicious. It's conveniently located to many Brooklyn landmarks and transportation, making it a true Brooklyn restaurant wedding venue. Their team is wonderful to work with, offering genuine hospitality - there's no doubt your events at Strange Delight will be unforgettable!

Sure thing! For full buyouts, we’re open to getting creative, but may be limited given our unique kitchen space and equipment.

Our menu typically includes allergens like nuts, gluten, shellfish, etc. We can accommodate nut-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, and vegan requests. However, due to limited space and the prevalence of shellfish on our menu, shellfish & fish allergies cannot be easily accommodated

A deposit is required to confirm your event at Strange Delight. This amount is typically 50% of the estimated total event cost.

We understand that plans can change. Our cancellation policy allows for a full refund of your deposit if canceled 21 days before the event. Cancellations made within 21 days of the event will render your deposit non-refundable, but transferrable to a date in the future.

We don't charge rental fees, but instead food & beverage minimums that associate to the day of the week and time of day of your rental. Inclusive in the minimum spend is staffing, all glassware & service wares, napkins, flatware, tables, chairs, etc.

Your desired duration will be assigned a relative food & beverage minimum spend, so it's flexible! But typically, we recommend 5 hours, exclusive of set up and breakdown.

We are fully insured, but always recommend special event insurance for any extraneous circumstances.

Yes, all our facilities are wheelchair accessible.

No, we provide all food & beverage, including liquor.

No, we don't offer on-site parking. There is some street parking in the neighborhood, and garages in the area, but we generally recommend group transit or rideshares to arrive to the venue.
