I told her about my insecurities and she ensured me that I would look beautiful and suggested different poses etc that would highlight the features that I wanted. “We had Makena as our wedding photographer for our November wedding. She was absolutely amazing to work with! It has taken me a little bit to write a review because there's a million things I could write about and narrowing it down was a task. First, she was more than willing to meet with us well before the wedding to go over what to expect because we were in the dark about the whole wedding process so knowing what we needed to tell a photographer was new to us. She went above and beyond. As a bride I was a little stressed that day and she helped me in everyway. She gave advice, was so generous as to go and receive something I needed, even went to check on things and communicated things for me. I never would have expected that but it honestly helped me out tremendously and actually was a main point to helping the wedding go so smoothly. My husband and I aren't exactly comfortable taking pictures and I was nervous because I wouldn't know how we were suppose to pose or anything like that. Makena made us feel comfortable and directed us for the photos, which took away any nervousness. She was so warm and friendly. We even had a lot of comments from our guests about how nice she was. Our pictures came out amazing. She gave us a sneak peak the morning after which was so awesome to get to show off. I guess it is important to note that we booked Kevin for our wedding/elopement EIGHT days in advance-not much time at all. Kevin arrived early, had a great positive attitude, and went with the flow for the day. He was well prepared with lots of equipment and ideas and we could clearly see his knowledge with photography and getting a beautiful shot. We were worried he'd not want to hike with us at Starved Rock State Park after our ceremony, but he was stoked to go on the adventure with us. He got to our ceremony spot with time to spare and was able to capture us gathering our 5 witnesses and walking them to the ceremony spot. Our ceremony pictures are so emotional. Elliot has a gift for capturing the depth of emotion being felt. He got beautiful photos of us with our parents that we will treasure for the rest of our lives. After the ceremony, we hiked for THREE HOURS!!! in and out of the canyons at Starved Rock State Park. The photos we got can only be described as fuc*ing epic. There were two canyons in particular I wanted to have photos taken and we were able to do both and so much before, after, and in between. We also got an insanely gorgeous video shot with drone footage, that we used to announce our elopement to our family and friends. We also got our sneak peaks back so fast!
