Sound River Studios was the perfect venue for our May 2024 wedding! We had not initially considered a raw space for our wedding reception. However, after meeting with Una and discussing the seemingly infinite possibilities for the space (along with soaking in the spectacular views of NYC), we were completely sold on the venue. We are so glad we made the choice to celebrate our wedding at Sound River Studios! We took advantage of the dock at the venue and had our guests arrive to cocktail hour by boat which was a unique highlight. The dock is also a beautiful spot for photos! Una was beyond helpful in the planning process and she was always available to answer any questions we had or to brainstorm ideas with us and our vendors. We would highly recommend Sound River Studios to any couple looking to have a memorable NYC wedding!

We had a beautiful wedding at the Prospect Park boathouse on 5/23/24! Everything went smoothly, thanks to the prep calls with Elena and the Purslane team. The setup of the venue was stunning, everyone raved about the food and the cocktails were so so good. We had the time of our lives - I’ll never forget the swans making a guest appearance too. Highly recommend for a seamless and fabulous wedding day!

Founded in 1863, Center for Brooklyn History, formerly Brooklyn Historical Society (BHS) is dedicated to celebrating and preserving the borough’s 400 year history. The building has been renovated with state of the art modern facilities. Whatever your needs, Center for Brooklyn History can tailor a space rental package. Stately columns and soaring ceilings are the focus of the striking first-floor space, while the elegant Othmer Library, a New York City interior landmark, will make your celebration one for the books!

Our experience with CBH was nothing short of perfect! We had a small 54-person cocktail hour and reception, both in the Othmer Library, and we could not have dreamed of a more perfect space. The overall atmosphere of the library was incredible, and we leaned hard into the old-world feel of the space. Our guests were in awe when they walked in, and the fact that we were able to be involved every step of the way made it so special. CBH works exclusively with Purslane as their caterer, and all communication was done through Purslane, who are also amazing and make fabulous food. (We had many raving guests.) They also help arrange all the rentals, create the run of show, and ensure the night is running along as planned, which it did! A few things we weren't expecting: - The library itself is on the smaller side, so if you want to have dinner and dancing there, you're looking at 60 people tops. This worked out fine for us with plenty of room for a dance floor, but we did have to significantly cut our guest list. - Since the building is a historical landmark, no food or drink that could stain (red sauce, red wine, coffee, etc.) was allowed. This never bothered us, and none of our guests even noticed since we had a fully stocked bar and incredibly delicious food. - We were required to hire a professional day-of coordinator. This was not part of our budget, so be prepared if it's not in yours either. We ended up working with Mostest since they were the least expensive service we could find, and they were amazing. It turned out to be so useful to have our DOC there, so we're happy this rule was imposed, as it led to a seamless night! - The library set up a new exhibit a few weeks before our wedding in the Fransioli Gallery where we were to have our cocktail hour, and we did not know what it would constitute until a few weeks out. We ended up deciding the contents of the exhibit weren't very well suited to a wedding, and CBH/Purslane were incredibly accommodating, offering to put up pipe and drape or move the cocktail hour. We chose to move it to be in the Othmer and were so happy with that decision. Overall, CBH is a 10/10! Our wedding felt like a dream, and anything we had to sacrifice was far outweighed by the stunning space. We would highly recommend CBH as a venue if you're looking for a more intimate night with immaculate vibes!

We got married at Dobbin St. on March 23, 2019. We fell in love with the space the first time we saw it. The high ceilings, clean lines, and minimalist look were just what we wanted, and unlike anything else we had seen. It was like a "clean" slate that we were able to completely make our own with our choice of flowers, lighting, place settings, etc. The whole Dobbin St. team was amazing to work with - they were with us every step of the way. The day was perfect!

From the moment we walked into Rule of Thirds for our site visit, we knew that we had found the perfect venue for our wedding! We had our wedding this past May 2025 at Rule of Thirds, and could not be MORE HAPPY for our decision. Not only is the space incredibly beautiful, but the staff is amazing, truly so helpful, kind, and patient. Food and drink being included due to the incredible restaurant that Rule of Thirds already is, in addition to hosting events, made booking this space an even easier decision! Julie and Mandy, who communicated with us throughout our planning process, were a huge help as we worked to envision our big day, and were always available to answer our questions as they came up. Additionally, the food tasting experience was a lot of fun, and made us even more excited for the wedding! Naturally, everything was DELICIOUS and our friends cannot stop raving about how good everything was. On the day-of our wedding, our onsite events operations manager, Lucia, was also a huge help, and alongside our day of coordinating team, it felt like we had an amazing crew supporting us, and ensuring that we felt relaxed and happy all day long. The space itself is also stunning, especially the skylight at the center of the atrium space, which became such a focal point for our wedding design as we envisioned everything coming together. Having access to the bridal suite behind their sake shop also made preparing before and after our ceremony seamless. The way everything came together at the venue, including flowers, signage, and our floor plan, was perfect, and everything we could have ever dreamed of. We cannot recommend this venue enough, and will always remember Rule of Thirds as a special place in our hearts where we got to start the rest of our lives together with friends and family all around us! Thank you!

About wedding venues in Brooklyn, NY

Why Is Brooklyn the Perfect Wedding Destination?

Brooklyn gives couples those authentic industrial-chic spaces you just can't find elsewhere, with preserved timber beams and brick walls that tell the story of the borough's manufacturing past. You'll fall in love with waterfront venues like Liberty Warehouse where you can exchange vows with unobstructed views of Lady Liberty and the harbor. If you're dreaming of skyline views, Brooklyn's rooftop venues deliver 360-degree Manhattan panoramas that will leave your guests speechless. Each neighborhood brings its own character; from historic Brooklyn Heights to artistic Williamsburg; creating wedding backdrops impossible to duplicate in Manhattan. Plus your dollar stretches further here, typically giving you more space than you'd get across the East River.

What Are the Different Types of Wedding Venues in Brooklyn?

Brooklyn's venue options showcase its rich architectural heritage in ways that will make your celebration truly unique. Industrial spaces like The Green Building let you celebrate among original timber beams and factory windows for that perfect blend of history and style. If water views matter to you, Liberty Warehouse features floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the harbor and Statue of Liberty as your wedding backdrop. Looking for something elevated? The William Vale's 20th-floor space offers fully-accessible luxury with views that will take your breath away. Nature lovers can surround themselves with seasonal blooms at Brooklyn Botanic Garden's Palm House glasshouse while history buffs will appreciate Weylin's restored 1875 Gilded Age details in the former Williamsburgh Savings Bank.

How Much Does a Brooklyn Wedding Cost?

Brooklyn weddings typically run significantly higher than the national average of $6,500-$12,000. Your guest count will dramatically impact what you'll spend on your big day:

Guest CountEstimated Total Cost
50 guests$40,319
100 guests$68,404
150 guests$94,787
200 guests$118,336
250 guests$141,884
300 guests$165,433

Just for the venue alone you're looking at an average of $20,886 in Brooklyn which represents about 22% of your total wedding budget if you're hosting 150 guests. This gives you a realistic starting point when planning your Brooklyn wedding finances.

Which Brooklyn Neighborhoods Have the Best Wedding Venues?

Williamsburg offers you converted industrial spaces like MyMoon Restaurant where you can celebrate in a transformed 19th-century boiler room featuring sophisticated dining spaces with reclaimed wooden details that photographers love. DUMBO gives you those iconic cobblestone streets leading to venues with Manhattan Bridge backdrops perfect for unforgettable wedding photos. If you're planning a smaller gathering Greenpoint's Threes at Franklin and Kent provides an accessible option with intimate charm. Brooklyn Heights surrounds you with elegant venues in historic settings while Red Hook's Liberty Warehouse preserves authentic port architecture with full accessibility and those waterfront views you've been dreaming about.

What Should I Consider When Choosing a Brooklyn Wedding Venue?

When selecting your Brooklyn venue always verify the capacity limits match your guest count; this is particularly important at industrial venues with strict fire codes that won't budge no matter how much you want to squeeze in a few extra cousins. Planning to marry in September? You're not alone as it ranks as Brooklyn's most popular wedding month requiring 13-month advance bookings (417 days) for peak dates. Transportation planning becomes crucial since many Brooklyn venues have limited parking options for your guests. While many venues permit outside catering they may impose fees if you want to bring in your own alcohol so factor those potential costs into your budget.

Which Brooklyn Venues Offer Special Features?

The William Vale in Williamsburg gives you fully-accessible modern event spaces with sweeping views and personalized menus tailored to your taste. Food lovers can enjoy Michelin-starred cuisine at The River Café through four-course tasting menus served in a glass-enclosed pavilion surrounded by water views. If tech matters to your celebration 74Wythe features advanced audiovisual capabilities that support creative remote guest participation beyond basic streaming; perfect for including loved ones who can't attend in person. At Wythe Hotel you'll enjoy French-inspired cuisine from their in-house restaurant Le Crocodile bringing elevated dining to your wedding day.

When Should I Book My Brooklyn Wedding Venue?

You'll typically need to book your Brooklyn venue about 13 months before your wedding date to secure your first choice. September generates the most inquiries with prime dates often secured well over a year in advance. If you're flexible with your date winter weddings between January and March might reward you with lower venue rates and greater date availability with shorter booking windows. This seasonal flexibility could save you thousands while still giving you the Brooklyn wedding of your dreams. Just remember that popular venues book quickly regardless of season so start your venue search as early as possible.
