Do you want the wedding playlist to be a reflection of you and your spouse's music choices? Then you want to book Summit Events ASAP. Our wedding DJ was Sean Markland and he was just phenomenal to work with. Prior to our wedding we had a lengthy call with Sean; my husband and I were very picky with our wedding playlist and had a rule of absolutely no traditional wedding reception songs or line-dances. We love electronic dance music (EDM) and wanted our wedding to be "festival/show vibes". We pretty much curated our own playlist of EDM, country, hip-hop, folk and I really wasn't sure how our guests would respond (and we really didn't care because it was our wedding), but the way Sean mixed and transitioned the songs and hyped up the dance floor kept the vibes going all night! We used Summit Events for our up lighting too - highly recommend as it was a great way to turn the room from a classy dinner reception to a dance party in one click! The sound quality was great for both speeches and music; we wanted to make sure guests could hear speeches clearly and we had no issues at all even though it was a large room. I also appreciated the Vibo app that we used to plan out our ceremony, entrances, first dances and our playlist for the night - it was a great tool that kept songs and notes in one place. We would definitely use Sean and Summit Events again and highly recommend them for the best night of your life!”

The MC's ad-libs got a little overbearing at times, but overall they did a nice job sticking to the schedule and making important announcements. “We were super excited to work with a veteran-owned business for our wedding music. However, the experience was not what we had hoped for. William's communication style was fast and accommodating, but he had a hard time matching the style of music we provided for our playlist (we provided around 40 songs for him and he added the rest to get the time coverage, but we didn't like 60% of his choices so we changed them 2 days before, which he fixed with no complaints!). During the ceremony, the music was skipping (outdoor and separate from reception area) and he ended up playing more guest requests than the songs we had specifically chosen as the couple. One big positive was he had a good balance of talking/directing and just playing music which I really appreciated. Overall, we had mixed feelings but all the issues we had could have been corrected with an equipment check (not sure if this was a venue issue or DJ issue) and preference of our music over the guests. I really liked working with William as a person and he handled changes really well, but I was disappointed to not hear more of my song choices.”

If you’ve had a good time at a wedding or event in the DC/Maryland/VA area, chances are it was DJ Casanova that got you moving. You know him as DJ Casanova, but around the office, we just call him Jamie. Back in the day, he was just a child of immigrants recording his favorite songs over his parent’s cassette tapes (sorry Mom and Dad) so he could listen to them on his prized Walkman. Jamie entered the DJ field in 2009, and before long he was spinning something at a different party every week. Pretty soon he realized that sharing his love of music with like-minded folks was more than just a hobby, it was a gift.

“DJ Casanova was recommended to us by our venue and we could not have been happier with our decision to have him DJ our wedding reception. He is extremely organized and responsive. He shared a wedding planning sheet with us that allowed us to build our timeline and reception playlist. He also allowed us to create our own playlists for cocktail hour and dinner music (though he has some of his own playlists that we 'stole' some songs from too). What really made DJ Casanova stand out was that he met with us virtually (we don't live in the DMV area) multiple times before our wedding. His main focus during the first session was to learn about us as individuals and a couple, as well as our families. The second session was focused on logistics, name pronunciations, etc. He was extremely receptive to our requests and made the wedding day exactly what we wanted. Many of our guests asked us how we found our DJ because they were so blown away with the musical selections he played and how friendly he was during the reception. We give our highest recommendation!”

Whether you wish for elegant classical music, toe-tapping fiddle tunes, or a favorite popular song, I can help you find that perfect sound! I offer high-end wedding sound at an affordable price. The instrument on which I perform is a gorgeous sounding violin made by MacArthur "genius" grant winner, Joseph Curtin. For outdoor weddings I use a Fishman SA330X Performance Audio System which provides terrific amplification without sacrificing the purity of acoustic violin.
