The property takes its name from the Old English translation of "where the sky meets the water." To this end, five ponds and a meandering brook are just the beginning of a true visual feast. Remnants of a 200-year-old stone barn, a springhouse, protected forests, abundant wildlife and a 55-acre arboretum paint a scene of incredible beauty and tranquility. Formal gardens and terraces surround the venerable estate house, its earliest roots traced back to the 1740s. Listed on the National Historic Register, the residence lends a time-honored backdrop for indoor/outdoor events. Welkinweir is the home of Green Valley Watershed Association, a not-for-profit organization with a mission to protect and preserve the water resources of Northern Chester County through advocacy and education.

Our venue has stunning outdoor picture spots. These include a koi pond, an overlook gazebo, a color lite fountain in our larger main pond, gazebos, gardens and many more onsite places for the most ideal pictures.
