Throughout the whole process, she was so professional and supportive, even with not as traditional ideas. She had such a quick response time, usually within a day, or a couple hours, and sometimes even sooner! Her attention to detail in making my timeline was also amazing and I felt that we were able to have the whole day planned to the dot before the big day. On the wedding day, she made sure everything ran so smoothly and we were not stressed out at all! We had some small hiccups with the layouts that our venue had set up, but a quick word from Lissa had them fixing the issue. She's the perfect amount of assertiveness, professionalism, and friendliness with everyone, including the guests. Even to the point I was able to walk down the aisle and the manger on site from simply fresh that day noticed my pocket of my wedding dress was sticking out so I was able to fix it before going down the aisle, so glad she told me because my pocket sticking out in all the photos of a once in a lifetime moment would have really not been great! They have incredible communication from before you book, after you book the tasting and just being flexible for meeting and walk through! The food was incredible (like seriously INCREDIBLE) and they ensured EVER single detail was exactly as I dreamed! I really am so happy I booked with simply fresh and would over and over 100 times again!!! “I recommend the Kentlands Mansion not only because of its charm but for the easiness it was to work with the staff. This was our first annual Christmas Party and we did not need to bring any additional decorations because the Mansion was beautifully decorated and created a warm holiday feeling for us and our guests. There was plenty of parking which is normally a concern with events but not here. I also liked that when it got a little warm because of dancing that we were able to step out on the canopied porch for some fresh air but was still able to hear the music. Looking forward to another event at the Mansion!”

“It's hard to do anything but rave aboutUche and her team - Uche is incredibly creative, a consumate professional, and moreover just an all around awesome human being to work with. From the beginning, she was super responsive and took the time to help me figure out the look for my wedding (I wasn't starting from much - just knew I wanted a "secret garden" type feel). In our first conversation alone I knew she had a vision, and told her to go with it. The execution was so far above and beyond our expectations that words can't describe it. I loved and really appreciated the thoughtful proposal Uche put together (and changed several times at my annoying requests), but I really couldn't have imagined how beautiful everything would be the day of. We got married at District Winery, and Uche and her team took FULL advantage of the blank canvas-esque space, complete with hanging greenery installations and the most beautiful altar piece I've ever seen. My bouquet was also gorgeous - as were my bridesmaids', and the boutonnieres were amazing. I honestly had friends coming up to me telling me they loved the florals even more than what they had at their own weddings! Not only was the end result day-of perfect, but I know that Uche and her team worked tirelessly to get it done. When we had our rehearsal at the venue the afternoon before, they were there getting a head start (what other wedding vendor would do that!?) I could go on forever about how incredible Uche is (like the fact that she hosted my mom and I at her studio for over an hour to patiently talk through details, even as she was prepping for a big wedding the next day), but the bottom line is that if you want top notch creativity and professionalism all in one, you can't go wrong with Designs by Oochay. One final thing - a friend/guest of ours happened to be a former client of Uche's, and Uche made a specific point to find her at the end of the evening to say hello and give her a hug (which my friend was super excited about), even though it was after midnight and she was trying to disassemble everything - which I thought truly showed how warm and gracious she is, as well as how much her former clients love her!”

“On April 13, 2024, we held our wedding and reception at the Gaithersburg Marriott Washingtonian Center. During the planning of our wedding, we worked with Amy, Sonia, and finally Katherine to create our ideal day. All were very pleasant, knowledgeable, flexible and accommodating with our arrangements, and were very responsive answering numerous questions that we had. The wedding set up was exactly as discussed and the transition from outdoor to indoor on the day of the wedding (way too windy a day for an outdoor ceremony) was seamless, thanks to the wonderful staff! The reception area, bar, and food was set up exactly as had been discussed and the food was delicious! All of the guests commented on how wonderful the food and staff were. Staff also was very helpful with connecting our music through the hotel's WIFI system. We were even given a room for dressing and preparing for the ceremony. The atmosphere was very relaxed and professional (but not stuffy) and we never felt rushed or anxious about any of the arrangements. The amount owed was exactly what we had been told so there were no surprises there. Overall, it was a perfect day and the staff and facilities at the Marriott couldn't have been any better. I would not hesitate to hold any future events there, knowing the kind attention paid to every detail to make every event special.”

Hi! I'm Nina and I run Ivy & Quartz photography! I shot my first wedding in 2013, but my journey with photography began long before that. When I was about 10 years old, my dad gave me a camera and I quickly became obsessed. My intrigue continued to grow over the years and I went on to earn my BA in Studio Art , Photography, from the University of Virginia. After graduating I worked as a portrait photographer and decided to pursue and earn my MFA in Imaging Arts from the Rochester Institute of Technology.

“After friends shared a photo of my then fiance and me at their own wedding, we hired the photographer who took it. This was Nina! That one photo inspired us to review the gallery of their entire wedding and then her portfolio and we were blown away. 7 months later our own wedding day arrived. My husband and I are the type of people who are wildly present and constantly forget to take photographs of our life together. We knew we wanted to capture this day without the photography becoming a chore or hindering our ability to do what we do best and enjoy our time. Nina was able to provide just that and was incredible (as was the second photographer she worked with for our big day). Nina seamlessly handled all the chaotic moments and pre-ceremony stress of the very emotional bride (me) in stride! With very little direction she navigated all aspects of a wedding day with absolute poise and grace. I cannot thank her enough for taking on such leadership and just GETTING IT DONE! Nina captured all the big and tiny pieces that go into a wedding and I felt her photo choices, angles, and poses perfectly captured the essence of me and my husband's personalities. He was super focused, detail orientated, bilingual, fun and laid back. He captured so many incredible behind the scene moments and my family kept saying we didn’t even see him take that picture. We were nervous about not knowing how to pose. He made us so comfortable and had amazing poses. He captured intimate moments of our families reactions during the ceremony, speeches and partying.
