“We absolutely loved working with The Hook Club. Our amazing planner, Greenhouse Events, recommended THC, and we were sold immediately after meeting with Dan. He is super relaxed, nice, and so knowledgable. Dan and THC team made planning super easy for us. They took time to hear about our hopes and helped recommend different band sizes for us. We hadn’t heard of a DJ band before, but loved the idea of some live music with the versatility to play all sorts of music, but our venue wasn’t very big and we also didn’t want to break the bank and hire a huge band. We chose the 4 piece DJ band with singer, sax, drums, and DJ. We knew we LOVED the sax, so we also had the sax play for cocktail hour (shout out to Elijah, who was amazing), and it was one of the best parts of the night. For planning music, they sent out a very detailed and thorough spreadsheet with more songs than one could imagine, and we could rate ones we liked the most, choose ones we definitely wanted or didn't, and choose specific songs for important moments. We met a couple times to review music choices as well. One of our biggest fears with a DJ was that they'd talk too much and be a little annoying, but Dan did a great job as MC, and was very low-key like we asked but announced important moments clearly. Dan and all the musicians had such great energy and got everyone on the dance floor. Our vocalist, Christen, was also amazing — her voice was spectacular, and she was such an amazing performer and got everyone involved in the music and dancing. So many people told us how much they loved the music and the energy, and had never heard of a DJ band but thought it was an amazing concept and the addition of live music over tracks added extra excitement and fun. THC also helped out with lighting (uplights and dance lights), and worked with our fantastic planner and the venue to help us decide the best setup. Ultimately, we loved working with THC. Their DJ-band setup is unique and adds so much variety to your music while allowing for some of the energy that comes from live performers. We danced the night away and had an absolute blast. 100% would recommend THC to anyone!”

As a wedding vendor myself I know how important it is to have a DJ that can balance fun and professionalism, but Joey Chang did just that. He was punctual, detail oriented, and our guest couldn’t stop talking about how good he was, both as a musician and as a DJ. I really appreciated the time and effort he took to insure that no details were missed. We booked a lighting package as well and our ceremony space looked even better than I could have imagined. Joey made sure the ceremony audio was perfect. Everyone could hear the whole ceremony which was really important to us. And when he played cello for our processional and recessional, the sound really filled the space and sounded beautiful. During our cocktail hour he played cello and did some beatboxing, we were so impressed and our guests loved it as well, they were talking about how good he was and how they could hardly believe it was live music. After dinner the dance floor was full the whole night. Even months later we still have people telling us how much fun they had dancing, how great our playlist was, and how much they liked our DJ. “We found Brandon through our wedding planner Christine Garrison of CMG Events. She suggested him because we were interested in having someone play acoustic guitar and singing during the wedding. After chatting with Brandon, we hired him to play the guitar for our ceremony, act as a wandering minstrel during the cocktail hour, and DJ the entire event. Our ceremony took place outdoors in an open lawn area. Brandon did a great job with setting up the sound. Everyone was able to hear both us and the officiant clearly. The acoustic rendition of Heartbeats (Jose Gonzalez) and Wildflowers (Tom Petty) he played for our processional and recessional were beautiful and really set the mood we were looking for. Brandon also did a great job DJing the event. He was able to take a small number of songs and expand the playlist to not only fit our tastes but keep the party hopping. We had expected that we would have minimal dancing and that our crowd would mostly just sit around chatting. However, Brandon was able to keep the energy up and the dance floor going throughout the night. It far exceeded our expectations and made the night really memorable. He was extremely professional throughout the planning process. We had several calls leading up to the wedding, and he made it easy to communicate what we were looking for in the event. We added songs to a few different playlists which he used as a jumping off point. He also provided suggestions for all the important moments (e.g., processionals, recessional, first dance, grand entrance). His contract and other documents were also clear and always sent promptly. On the day of Brandon arrived on time for set up and did a great job with all aspects (sound, DJing, acoustic performance, and lighting) of the event. He looked extremely professional and was communicative throughout the day, constantly checking in with the planner and us to make sure everything was going well. If he wasn’t sure about a song, he’d ask before playing it. Best of all, he was extremely reasonably priced. His assistant, Josh, was also very nice and did a great job.”

Bassist and bandleader Josh Levine got his start in the professional music business busking in SoHo with The Flying Neutrinos in ’93, so when NYC shut down in Spring of 2020, he capitalized on his experience as a street performer and began to play regularly in the parks of NYC with percussionist and sonero, Jainardo Batista, renowned flutist Itai Kriss making his debut on Cuban trés guitar, and María Raquel on vocals and minor percussion. Before long, the quartet had generated some buzz, several venues hired them to play outdoors and pianist Gabriel Chakarji and Grammy winning flutist and vocalist Jeremy Bosch became staples of the group.

“Working with Leo was a great experience. He went above and beyond in providing me the service I had anticipated. His band Wild Faith played for my wedding reception just last weekend and they sounded great. When I first started talking with Leo about his availability he was prompt in his communication and also offered to learn new song material beyond his already extensive set list. His offer of learning special songs for us, attention to detail, timeliness in communication as well as showing up on time at our cold and rainy outdoor ceremony site were what he delivered.
