Aloha! I'm Roman. I've been living on the magical island of O'ahu since I came to UH Manoa in 2009 for my Economics Degree. I got involved with the University radio station (90.1 FM), started doing live events, and really loved showing off my rare music finds. Nothing beats the feeling of rocking a live crowd for track after track, especially after the long pause in events! DJing is all I do for "work", and I love it! Each wedding or event I play is full of different people and different ages from all over the world, and they all have differing tastes in music- blending so many different genres and styles of music is such a fun challenge!

DJ Roman Candles was excellent! He pulled off a set that was beyond our wildest dreams. We had a brief phone meeting a week before the wedding about how we wanted the vibe to be and he pulled it off perfectly. Us and our guests were blown away by his performance. After the wedding, all of our guests were raving how awesome he was! He blended all of our requested genres. The transitions between genres and between songs were spot on! He had all of our guests up and dancing. Our wedding coordinator said he was very easy to work and communicate with. He was very organized and had all the equipment we needed. He also took care of the emcee duties and did an awesome job! He had an app we could use to upload all of our song requests. We found it very useful for organizing the songs we wanted played at each part of the night. He totally killed it and we could not imagine anyone doing better. 10/10. We can’t stop watching videos of how fun the night went! Totally recommend DJ Roman Candles for your wedding or any other events!!!

I emcee most of my events because that is what I am well known for in Hawaii. I am not over the top but I deliver a smooth, non-intrusive show and program for guests to enjoy. I don’t like to get in the way of the “Life of the Party” I encourage everyone to enjoy themselves and allow them to experience their fun with friends and family. Being in public and having fun with others is not always an easy task for some. But if I can encourage “just one person” to be themselves and don’t worry about what people think about their dancing I feel I did more than make a person dance. Rob and all the staff we worked with at Second Song were great! I vetted several DJs for my husband’s surprise 70th birthday celebration and selected Second Song live DJ because they were able to provide a soloist and a sax player to compliment the overall DJ experience. Our DJ was Ace, Sax Player Austin and singer Natalie. I booked 11 months in advance, had a phone meet and greet 6 weeks out and had several revisions to the itinerary as we got closer to the event. Any changes , questions or ideas I had were promptly acknowledged, answered and collaborated on which continually reassured me that Second Song took a personal interest in making our night one to remember. I also found out that Second Song is frequently hired by my employer, Providence Medical Center in Torrance, for their Foundation events.

The Hook Club was by far the coolest musicians I was able to find in terms of having an NYC night out vibe, and not a typical "wedding" vibe. We had a bass and guitar duo for our cocktail hour. They were super nice and awesome musicians. It started raining an hour into our cocktails so we had to move inside, and the bassist switched to playing a piano so that we could continue the music inside. Everyone was so impressed by how multi-talented they were!! Loved them and wish we had them play music for more of our reception. Dan, the founder, as well as the rest of their staff were incredibly organized and attentive throughout the planning process. Highly recommend!!

We hired Twin Spin to DJ our wedding and he was absolutely amazing. The onboarding process was professional and friendly. He took the time to get to know us and let us know what services he provided and what we can expect. Creating our playlists were easy. Young had us create playlists in spotify and upload the list to his website. Very simple and straightforward process. At the wedding, they had speakers, mics, and displays set up over all the locations they were needed. We never had to find Young for anything, he always came to us to take care of our next steps. It was wonderful. And as an MC, he kept the party moving, the energy high, and the production on schedule. At the end of our wedding, we opted for Karaoke instead of the regular dancing. This was made super easy for everyone. Twinspin set up QR codes anyone could scan with their phones and get their songs in. It was a huge hit and everyone loved it. Twinspin wasn't the cheapest DJ service we found, but his professionalism won us over and after seeing them work, they were worth every penny.

DJ Diego was one of our favourite vendors at our wedding. He was reliable and so chill to work with. Diego was amazing at setting the exact vibes we were hoping for during every part of the reception, from cocktail hour to dinner to the dance floor, and he somehow kept the party going all evening without a single lull. Guests came up to us throughout the night with glowing compliments for Diego. One of our guests who hates dancing and loves cake said Diego was so good that she missed the cake because she didn’t want to leave the dance floor. Something that also stood out to me was Diego’s thoughtfulness - I asked my sister to request Roses by Outkast, and my sister told me that Diego made sure to confirm that the bride was the one making the request before playing it (I guess it’s a diss track). Diego is the best wedding DJ we could have ever asked for. We’ve attended two weddings since our own, and at both, mutual guests commented that they wished Diego were the DJ (including a wedding over a year later). We wholeheartedly recommend Diego, and Hawaii is so incredibly lucky to have him!
