“Let me start off by saying that I didn't think I "needed" a DJ for my wedding, so I didn't budget for one initially. It was about halfway through wedding planning that my now-husband and I decided we should invest in one, so it would be one less thing for us to have to do on our wedding day. Budget was super important to us when booking a DJ, but we also wanted someone who was experienced and knew what they were doing. The DJ Company of Virginia did not disappoint! Nikki and Devail helped me during the booking and planning process, and helped pick the right DJ to use for our venue. When planning, we were able to suggest a bunch of songs that both of us love and also got to make a list of any songs we didn't want to hear. Our guests were able to suggest songs on their own, and I gave those to the DJ beforehand (it was a question on our RSVP form). If you wanted your guests to suggest songs during the reception, I know they would be able to do that too! Jose was the DJ for our wedding and he was super friendly and easy to talk to! My husband and I did a "fake out" for our first dance, where we made it seem like we would do the standard slow dance, but then actually use a fun, upbeat song. Jose made sure he understood what we wanted and our guests LOVED it! Jose played so many songs that I like and love that I found myself on the dancefloor a bunch. I sure got in a workout! If you need a DJ in the Hampton Roads area, you should book the DJ Co. of VA. I wasn't sure we could afford a DJ for our wedding, but their prices were perfect for our needs! The planning suite they use is extremely easy to navigate and set s everyone up for success leading up to the big day! Devail and Nikki took time out of their busy schedule to share some video footage with our pastor so that he could show his wife. Talk about making it a personal experience!! He was truly a delight and even wore black, per my very annoying request :) He also had me get on the DJ board (just pretending) and it was a huge hit! Very fun, very adaptable! Summit Events Co. uses an app for all of your music and timeline needs and it was SUPER easy to use. It connects to Spotify, Youtube, and a few other platforms so I could just upload my playlists I had already worked on and it made everything really fast. We also got a photobooth which was AMAZING. It's hard to know when planning a wedding what is worth the extra cost but this hands down was worth it. Our attendant was such an angel and multiple people came up to me after to tell me how cool she was! Their pricing is super reasonable - very in line with other vendors I found and Ben was able to accommodate our specific budget while still making our vision come to life. Jeff also helped keep us on schedule during the reception while still allowing us flexibility to enjoy the event. Jeff also coordinated effectively with the planners, event staff, and us leading up to the wedding day, as well as throughout the day and night. From a music perspective, Jeff was fantastic: he was flexible to take as little or as much direction as needed. For example, we chose specific songs for the ceremony and first dances which he cut for time and mixed to perfection. We gave a more general "vibe" for cocktail hour and he ran with building out a broader playlist for that, and he did a great job of keeping the dance floor rocking the entire night, while accepting our must plays, our "do-not plays" etc.”

He would check in with us throughout the year leading up to the wedding to make sure we were doing okay with the planning and to see if we needed anything or had questions about anything along the way. We had a wonderful experience working with him and would 100% book with him again for another event. Vince did a great job communicating with us and even giving us tips on things he’s experienced that helped make our day even more special. He did a great job with music selection despite having some issues with communication with our coordinator and while there was some confusion on a few announcements and some of the transitions, the overall experience was phenomenal!
