How much do wedding & reception venues cost?

The cost of wedding venues varies, with factors influencing cost including size, location, guest count, and, most importantly, whether things like catering and rentals are included. The more a reception venue near you includes, the higher the cost. When considering venues, try to compare prices apples-to-apples. If one venue includes catering and rentals in their pricing and the other doesn’t, you need to figure out how much additional cost those outside vendors would be to make a true comparison. Before booking, be sure you’re aware of additional costs outlined in your contract, like parking fees and weather-related considerations (adding a tent, etc.).

What questions should we ask wedding venues?

When talking with a potential venue, always ask about 1) their availability and 2) their capacity. Some popular venues book up peak season Saturdays nearly 2 years in advance—if your first choice date isn’t available, consider your flexibility on day of the week and year. While maximum capacity is non-negotiable, venues might have guidance on what guest count will be most comfortable. Also, you’ll want to understand what is and is not included in the venue’s fees. Some include catering, tables and chairs, and linens, while others offer just the raw space. These venues are often less expensive because you are only paying for the space itself, and you’ll have to bring in outside vendors

“First off, the wedding coordinator MELISSA at The Milestone Denton is godsend and 10000% deserves a huge raise and fat bonus for the amount of work she does and is so helpful in the planning process. She was very honest and upfront during the entire planning process. I am very Type A and for once in my life it was nice to have someone else in charge and I fully trusted her. She even provides recommendations when you don’t know what you want and will be honest with pricing. If it weren’t for Melissa, I don’t know how the wedding would have gone and I would have been so stressed during the planning process. She is so awesome that she goes out of her way to do things for you (be nice everyone!) and is very responsive. She also helped with the reception layout with my divorced parents who do not get along with other family members and it was a success. MELISSA IS THE BEST!! The venue - BEAUTIFUL. We had our ceremony indoors which was nice because our guests were able to take pictures at the gabezo in the back during cocktail hour. If you do your ceremony outside at the gazebo, the guests won’t be able to have their little photoshoots. The entire venue is gorgeous and every corner is a photo-op. It’s a great venue if you have 150 or less people. The big windows everywhere were just so beautiful. The bridal suite is HUGE and beautiful and the grooms suite is upstairs and has a tv and pool table. Perfect for the boys! The food, bar and DJ - everything was great and explained throughly by Melissa so expectations were set and made based on what tier and package you purchased I did not use the Walter Weddings photographer, florists or cake designer so I can’t speak to that. One downfall was on the day of the wedding with Melissa’s day of partner, Allison. She is super sweet and helped steam my bridal gown and Matron of Honor’s dress, which I’m so appreciative of. But I guess she didn’t communicate well to the staff on what needed to be done that day because there were several mishaps that shouldn’t have happened. The ceremony room was incomplete and she didn’t give me the chance to see how the front tables looked. I purchased 100 of bouquet flowers and ribbons that were supposed to be tied to each seat which I was told could be done since it was a simple task to tie 3 flowers and a bow on each aisle chair. This was not done so that small detail from my ceremony room seem bland and a waste of money. The front tables weren’t done how I wanted and it was chaotic having presents with our guestbook and our wedding sign. We wanted to utilize the buffet type table in the front room for presents so it’s not so cluttered when you walk in. Also, a lot of my items were not used for cocktail hour. After the wedding, I noticed the box was opened but she did not use what I purchase and the display for cocktail hour looked like a “backyard bbq” according to my guests. I was so disappointed because I had custom items and “backyard bbq” did not fit the vibe of “old Hollywood glam” of the wedding. Other than the day of mishaps, I highly recommend doing your wedding at Milestone Mansion Denton and having Melissa as your coordinator. GIVE HER A HUGE RAISE, Walter Weddings!!! She’s top notch and deserves it!”

“Our wedding was on November 2024 and Caio and his team at Deity had made it such an easy process! Let’s rewind a bit to when my wife and I were venue shopping. We had initially stumbled upon Deity through their amazing reviews and reached out to Caio to see if we can take a tour of the venue. His response time was faster than any of the other places that I’ve reached out to and he has been so accommodating to my schedule to tour. Upon touring the place, it was such a “Brooklyn vibe” with the exposed brick in the loft as well as the amazing cellar and dance floor. Its unique structure was also a great selling point for us as all of the places were isolated on a specific floor. The highlight was certainly the wedding suite on the top floor! After our tour, we knew that this was the place for our wedding. Initially, we were planning a micro wedding but having physically looked at the venue, we opted for the all-inclusive wedding along with the bridal suite option. Honestly, the prices were too good not to go for it. Caio and his team thankfully had the exact date we wanted for our wedding. Planning for the wedding was such a breeze thanks to Caio and his team. They would periodically reach out to coordinate the wedding and any questions I had would prompt an immediate response from his team. Caio’s team coordinated everything with my additional vendors and honestly made planning so easy. All I had to do was just tell his team what I wanted for the wedding. Inching closer to the day of, we had scheduled a food tasting with Chef James so we had a better idea of what to pick for the menu. If you have the budget for it, certainly opt for the tasting. Chef James is a master at what he does. Every single plate of food that was presented was meticulously explained and not to mention delicious! One of the biggest things that guests care about at a wedding is the food and let me tell you, the food was delicious. We had our reservations of whether or not there would be enough food given it was family-style, but all of our guests were well fed and full. After the wedding, our guests wouldn’t stop talking about the food! On the day of the wedding, we had access to the venue in the morning to bring our outfits to the wedding suite. This area was great as it provided the perfect space for us, along with friends and family to get ready. Hair and makeup were all done in the wedding suite prior to the wedding. Guests upon arrival were directed by staff and for welcome drinks and taken to the loft prior to the ceremony. After the ceremony, we were directed back to the wedding suite for a chance for the two of us to enjoy some snacks and take a breather while guests were enjoying cocktail hour. Halfway throughout cocktail hour, we were guided back to mingle with guests and then went back upstairs for the reception. After enjoying a wonderful meal, it was time to party down at the cellar. DJ BenHa had such a great playlist and guests enjoyed a wonderful night of dancing. Plus, the open bar concept and specialty cocktails curated by the bartending team were such a hit. Even to this day, when I speak to guests, they can’t stop talking about our wedding. If you want an affordable, all-inclusive, all-planned out wedding, Deity is your bet. Caio and his team will ensure that your wedding will be stress-free and a breeze.”

We wanted something with an industrial vibe and large space, but the beautiful hardwood floors, ability to customize the space, and the welcoming owner, Sarah, are what truly sold it for us! “Got married at Simple Affair this June and everything was wonderful from start to finish! From the very first visit before securing the date, the staff was very informative and helpful. Maddy, our event coordinator, was so responsive and attentive to any and all questions we had throughout the planning process. “The view is even better in person. Photos are gorgeous but really can't do justice to the beauty and peaceful vibe at the farm. The team was fantastic. They provided a large bridal suite and grooms suite for us to get ready in. They booked almost all of our vendors and had recommendations for anything not included (local cabins, hotels, transportation, pastors, etc) We didn't lift a finger to decorate anything. They completely took care of all our setup and it was exactly what we wanted and had selected with the wedding planner. The venue is accessible which was really important to us since we had guests in wheelchairs. We had to do a rain delay and the staff worked so hard wiping down pews for our guests and even provided clear umbrellas just in case. “We booked The Sanctuary as our venue back in 2023 when they were just re-opening, and we have zero regrets! Every New Yorker should have this place on its radar! The very first day we were there with Fonsi, we knew we were in good hands! Donauschwaben’s was one of our venue choices coming highly recommended by our friends and family already. We reached out through their website and within no time we got an immediate response from the Christine, Event/ Wedding planner to set up a meeting together. She is not only extremely kind, but had everything organized so beautifully to choose from it was a no-brainer to choose this venue. She even recommended our DJ who had played a previous wedding there who was incredible. All communication leading up to our big day was efficient and layed out easily for us to understand. Our checks were deposited in a timely manner by the venue, our tasting was so nice and so delicious. The no pressure wedding planning was worth every penny spent. Our wedding day was so special and so beautiful from start to finish from the ceremony, to the cocktail hour, to our lovely reception to follow. Not only was Christine present the day of, but the staff was also on their A game all night long. Everyone was so incredibly friendly and kind, we felt like royalty. We both highly recommend this venue and if you do, definitely get the Schnitzel, Prost! “I have been dreaming about getting married at The Gallagher for years and am not exaggerating when I say that my wedding on 9.28 exceeded every single one of my expectations! Jenna and Jenna took every bit of stress off my plate and handled every last detail of making my day what I envisioned it would be. Jenna helped my bridesmaids peel protective stickers off 125 champagne glass tags for our seating chart and then handled the rest from there - and of course, it turned out perfect. The house on the property is huge and absolutely beautiful. It was the perfect place to have our rehearsal dinner, get ready in the morning with my girls, and party all night long at the fire pit and pool table inside. My parents were able to bring their RV and park on the lawn behind the house so that our babies could sleep near us without having to stay inside the house with the wedding party. She even has umbrellas in the closet of the getting ready room in case of rain! The Gallagher is a 10/10 and I recommend this venue to any bride that wants to wake up on her wedding day and know that everything is going to be taken care of by people that genuinely want to see all your dreams come true!”

Nazareth Hall is known throughout the region as a banquet and wedding facility, but it’s the rich history and lush setting that draws people here. Built in 1927 as an all-boy Catholic boarding school. It eventually evolved into a renowned military school for boys. Throughout its history the school stayed true to its Catholic roots and the nuns who served and taught here. Operating until 1982 the stories written within its walls are still told today. Re-emerging with a new mission and purpose in April of 1991, Nazareth Hall was reborn. It is in this picturesque place, reminiscent of castles of old, that brides come to be married and celebrate with family and friends in grand ballrooms. The classrooms and meeting spaces offer the perfect vintage background for business training sessions, and the manicured lawns have been host to numerous parties and festivities.
